Corvettes at Carlisle is scheduled for August 26-28, 2005. This is always a HUGE event every year. Expect to see thousands of 'vettes in every model, year and color. Many vendors, swap meet, corvette auction, and displays of all sorts to look at. A new event to be added is a Burnout Competition. [B-)] It is the "Superbowl Sunday" of 'Vettedom.

I will be going up again on a Saturday and leading the NVCC caravan. More information can be seen here:

Laurie - a few questions:

1) What time do you expect us to get there?
2) Do people generally park together and or in the Vette only lot (assuming it's not full)?
3) Are we caravaning back in the evening?
4) I'm assuming Cameras and Videocameras are allowed? Encouraged?

Thanks,

George - so looking forward to this event!

"Drivers' meeting at 7:15 AM, leaving at 7:30 AM SHARP" - from the event posting. I assume we'll be parking together as we'll be arriving together. I sincerely hope we're caravaning back or else I'm one lost puppy! I'm bringin' a camera and they'll have to tackle me to get it out of my hands.

1) The trip takes 2-ish hours. We leave at 7:30 and should arrive around 9:30.
2) As Dan said in his post above mine, since we will be arriving together, we park together. It is possible that some of us may get separated because of all of the traffic. There isn't much I can do about this unfortunately.
3) As stated in the event posting: "Once we arrive you are on your own to enjoy the many wonders of Corvettes at Carlisle."

That means, go/do what you want to at the show and leave when you have had enough. For many (myself included), Carlisle is a serious once-a-year shopping trip as well as feast for the eyes, so I do not expect us to stay as a group. Unless we all poop out simultaneously, we will not be caravaning back together as a group...directions will be given out at the drivers' meeting, simply reverse them. It is an easy route to follow.

4) If there are no restrictions against photographic equipment listed at the event website, www.carlisleevents.com, then feel free to bring it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday. Everyone, please be on time, with full gas tanks, family radios if you have them, ready to go!

All I need now is some Cash for shopping and remember the GPS for the way back.

Arrh! I can't go to Carlisle tomorrow (Friday) as my boss is on vacation and someone has to mind the store. However, I am going on Saturday so I will join your high-speed caravan. I'll bring a spare radio for someone who needs it.

Well, despite the rain, we had 18 cars show and an easy drive up. Thanks, all, who came out despite the weather...hope you all had a good 'shopping' trip and fun checking out all Carlisle had to offer. [:)]

See you next year!

Cool trip. Lots of goodies to lighten one's wallet up there. Too bad I can't be around to win the give-away 1991 ZR-1. [:(]

Thanks for organizing this Laurie. Evan and I made it home in about 2:45 due to my navigator falling asleep around the 3rd stop light ;-). Dispite having your directions, my GPS route/printout and my GPS we still took about 4 detours throught the lovely PA countryside. Traffic around Leesburg @ 5pm was horrible. I took some pictures of our line up in the rain and will get them posted somewhere when I get a chance. At least the clouds kept us cool while there. Can't say the rain was fun driving up or back. Wallet a little lighter. the obligatory t-shirts and hats and pins were acquired.
