George Kerns, Paul Hertel and I have been working to get the club off to a good start woth charities for next year, and one of the things we've got planned is an event on the 20th of December, WORKING!!

What we've got setup is to waiter/waitress and bartend some (maybe!) at the Bufflao Wing House (BWH) in Herndon, in the WorldGate Plaza. Here's the deal....all the money given that night as tips will be given to the Youth for Tomorrow Charity, a troubled teens home in Virginia. I'll let George expand more on what the charity consists of in a follow up email.

What we would like from the club is to have a few people volunteer thier time to be a waiter/waitress/host/hostess, as well as get some advertising in so friends and family might stop out and grab something to eat and donate to the cause.

The address for the BWH is 13005 Worldgate Drive, Herndon, Va. For those who'd be driving thier vettes, there is an underground parking garage available, and down at the very bottom the area is rarely used your car should be fairly safe.

The event will be from 6 till 12 (we dont expect everyone to work or stay that late), and a local paper will be present to write an article on the event (Thank you George!!). The Wing House will be providing some staff to help us out (although having seen Andrej at the club picnic, I'm sure he could handle all the cooking in the kitchen, if asked!).

The Bufflao Wing House has some great food and wings of pretty much every flavor imaginable. For the more daring and adventurous, they also have a few wings that are somewhat mild in temperature, ranging from plain to "Who Just Lit a Fire in My Mouth?"

This promises to be a fun time for everyone involved, and additionally, it's MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL for the sports folks that are normally couch potato'd in for the evening.

Any questions, suggestions, ideas or volunteers, please feel free to email me directly.
If there's only a certain time you can assist, please let me know that as well.

I look forward to seeing all of you Monday night!!

Jeff Kirk
NVCC President

Jeff,

We should wear our club shirts. Also, the race guys could wear their driver suit and helmet. That would provide some notice. The helmet would be useful if there is a food fight. Those chicken bones can hurt

Thanks,

Bob Compton

I will be there. I am currently working on a second newspaper to be there to cover this. All the press corps. that I've talked to like the idea, and say that it is a very unusual twist on fund raising.

I'll be there (6-9), but I'll leave the racing suit and helmet at home!

I was kinda figuring you could just drive the miata around and provide EXTRA fast service!!!

Maybe a race to table 3 between your Miata and Mike's Mini?

Thanks, but I think we're going to be ok with the help that's emailed me and posted on here. Doesnt mean you cant take advantage of the help though, by ordering some hot wings!

I hope we get lots of folks for this, because after Jeff's initial email, I haven't seen or heard anything on email about this event. There was even talk the other night of doing this to support a different charity, but no other news on that end either.

I finally had to work my way through all these forum threads and posts and maybe my reply will actually be attached to the right post or thread or whatever. If you're making it this hard to find out information, I'm not expecting many people to make this effort to help - especially 4 days before Christmas.

Anyway, now that I've got all that off my chest, Jack & I will be there from 6-8. We've recruited Jack's daughter, Kathryn, to help out, but I've warned her about car guys, so no slick moves on her because Dad will be watching!

See you then,

Alice & Jack

I'll be there around 6. Anne is coming tonight. Erica, and the kids are coming by. Quite a few people have responded to an e-mail that was sent out at work the other day so we should have plenty of people coming by. I have notified the Bull Run Observer, The Northern Virginia Journal, and the Herndon Connection. I hope at least one of them will show. [;)]

Man, talk about tired! Feel like I've been shot at & missed, and Sh*t at & hit!. Left at 10pm, got home at 10:30 then got up at 3:30 for work. A whole lot of fun for those that came! The club had good participation. Especaily Anne behind the bar, Bob & Andrej husteling the tables. Those young ladies from the wing house really worked those two! [:D] Everyone that participated KOODOS! Job well done. This was a good start of things to come in the future. I would also like to thank the owner & staff of the Buffalo Wing House for letting us come in and take over for the night! So the next time you go there thank Naeem, Moose, Amy, Lucy, Elizabith, Beth, Venessa, and Donnie for a great time, and being paitent with us. Standing there watching some of what was going on, and trying to write it down I saw some comical events that took place! [:D]

My family, friend, and I had a blast. We worked Bob well. My buddy even asked how often you all do that, I told him it was your first time. Kudos to all involved. [=D>] [=D>] [=D>]

Is that all the response that we are going to get from this guys? Come on! We need some feedback from you people so that if, and when we do it again we might be able to do better, or tone it down a notch. We would like to do something like this again, and be able to have success at it. We need the club members input to make things like this work. We also have been working with a couple of charities locally, but if there is one close to anyones heart please bring it up so that we can addesss it at the meetings, or on the forum.

I think we had enough help from the club. It was a real slow night though. I had fun, left earlier than I planned because of the crowd.

I mentioned a charity cruise/social event idea in a council e-mail, got 2 favorable reponses, one shot it down, and nothing from anyone else.

I give up...

I have a new found respect for waitresses. Lucy was constantly in motion working two tables. I can't imagine the juggline she would have to do to serve 7-8 during a rush!

If they want us back, we should do it on another slow night!

Glad to hear the event was successful. [:)]

Well maybe we could advertise a couple of weeks in advance next time? This was a learning curve/ expeirience. That's why we need the feedback. I'm not giving up! I think the time that Jeff put behind this to get it organized will pay off in the long run. I heard several nice/good responces at the wing house the other night, and that is a good start.
