I am ready to sell my factory (GM stamped) wagon wheels. They still have Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires mounted on them. One tire needs replaced before high speed events, another will need replaced soon. Could still have some autocrosses on them as they are.
There are some small scratches on one wheel; the other 3 look new.
No tire pressure sensors in these. I have chrome center caps for them.
$350

Are these the 17X8.5 fronts and 18X9.5 rears?

Are these off of your C5? I'm actually looking for another set of wheels to use on the track, and not looking to spend a ton of money, and that is a good price. I would be very interested in them. Let me know, or you can send me an e-mail.

You can pick up C4 wheels cheap like that - IF you know where to look

My friend picked up a set of A Molds 17x9.5's for $550 bucks almost brand new (no marks) [B-)]

Yeah...need a spare set for those race tires I'd like to have. That is next year's goal. Really don't wanna use my Goodyear GSCs for autoX/HS events.

Would like a really lightweight set o wheels...the brand new ones cost some big $$$. Don't wanna cut off an arm and leg for it. Ugh.

Looking for light wheels - this may help >>

http://www.superhonda.com/tech/wheel_weights.html

Also - Not ALL reproduction (Corvette) wheels are light - a friend of mine said some repro. 5 spoke ZR1 wheels were close to 2x's as heavy as a GM version [:-/]

Ugh...starting to think/dream about these...and never thought I would (thanks, Sarver):

If I can find them used it would be nice. Long shot. However they'd still be expensive. I'll probably end up with a used set of stock wheels or something like it. <sigh>

Visiting this forum was/is my downfall...

Really the price of them for 3 piece wheels and as light as they are isn't bad. Probably the most reasonable out there. I've got them on my 'wish list'.

Cool, what ever is easiest for you. If you want to e-mail some pictures you can send them to whiskeytahoe@aol.com. How quick do you want to get rid of these, or did you want to wait tell after Christmas. It's just a matter of hooking up. I'm asuming that these come off your C5, correct? Right now I have the magneseum wheels on the car, and scared that I'm going to tear them up. So these would be great for the track.

As far as competition tires go, it doesn't look like you have much or a choice...

Hoosier R3S04s...

245/45-17 or 275/40-17 fronts
275/35-18 or 285/30-18 rears

Looking at the cost of those and the luck that Mike Woods had with them this year you might want to look at more of a high performance street tire like the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDs... still talking about $900 before shipping, mounting and balancing.

I do believe these are the ones that Andrej had real good luck with. Best part is that you could swap tires at home and drive to the events on them.

Its pretty hard to beat the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDs if you are looking at a street - performance tire. Of course the C4s have a bigger group to choose from. It all depends on what you get for wheels.

Woodsie and I both drove to the dyno day on slicks and it wasn't fun and the roads weren't really that wet the way I went.

The other option is to get a tire trailer and swap them at the track.

FWIW, I'm still trying to kill the KD's I bought in '01. I autoxed them that whole season (hard) and have been driving them everywhere since. This winter may do it. I have the set I won in the garage, and I hope they're in good condition, after sitting for 3+ years.

If you are looking for a nice street tire that isn't expensive and can do track duty and driving back and forth you can try the Kumho ECSTA MXs (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=ECSTA+MX&partnu m=545YR7EMX&partnum=84YR7EMX&vehicleSearch=true&in dex=1) for about $520.

You could do the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDs (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KD&partnum=74YR7GFTAKDL&partnum=74YR7G FTAKDR&vehicleSearch=false&index=0&fromCompare1=ye s) for about $930 but again, it depends on what you get for wheels.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/nono.gif I just got through buying a Goodyear GSC runflat for street for the one that blew and am NOT changing tire brands now. Unlike the rest of you I actually like the EMTs for street. But they suck for track application and are way too expensive to be messing around at ODS with.

Both the Kumho ECSTA MXs and the BFG KDs would be street tires that you could mount on a 2nd set of rims and drive to the track. That way you could save the wear and tear on your EMTs.

None of it is cheap and you really need to decide where you are going and what you want to accomplish. {What group you want to run in 1SGL, 1GL, 2GL, etc.}

I think that incident was more the guy getting stupid than anything else. I've driven my two year old bald Kumhos to work lately more that to the track and they still stick great in the rain. Puddles are a completely different story, but the roads are drained pretty good out this way.

I know it isn't gonna be cheap...that's why it's a goal for sometime next year. [:)] Just want a sticky tire for track use only since I'll be using the Goodyears for street only.

As far as classifications, I really don't give a rat's a$$, I just wanna have a good time with it all and make improvements to LilRed that will make a difference. In talking with Ralph Watts after the last GBM at Friday's, I never was Group 1 to begin with. My first visit at Koons for an oil change Joe had told me I had a Corsa system, but the next time I was there and looking under the car, we saw 'Borla'. It just has Corsa-style Megs tips. Kind of an odd system, but it's not Group 1 apparently. The smallest Borla system, according to Ralph, is still 1/4" wider than stock...which would throw me into Group 2. So all this time for autoX I have been mis-classified. No big deal really, just would like to know once and for all, what my darn classification is!

PS-Mikey, I'm closing in on Post-Whore status.http://forums.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/willy_nilly.gif Worry not, though, I'll never be able to surpass you!

Our moderators are sure a chatty bunch.

Yes, George, these are C5 wheels. They didn't come off my car; I bought them from Iceburgh, a fellow on the other forum. You may have seen his car @ Carlisle, the Pgh Penguins theme car at the Meguire's booth.
I wanted original wheels for my car, since it came with 2000 repros. I decided to not use them on the street after all. I used them for track events. Occasionally I left the Michelins on for the street. I drove to the track on them several times. The fronts are 255's and rears are 265's. If you look up the Pilot Sport Cups on Tirerack, you will see that they are among the most expensive track tires available. Good durability, DOT legal.

I'll take some photos.
Anytime to trade is okay with me. I'm debating attending the go cart event next weekend, could bring them with me. I may email you with specific details.
