A couple of guys from the Corvetteforum ran at the last CarGuys event on the Shennandoah Circuit at Summit Point. You can find their impressions of the track at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=948408

After walking this track twice, I think they are being nice. Personnally I get the feeling that the track is about 2/3rds scale. (too much in too little of a place)

I would be happy to try it next year and provide my opinions afterwards if someone is willing to let me use their car. [:D]

Just found a 1 lap video that was taken the same weekend. It's about 35Mb so be prepared. http://www.tubas.net/video/Track/sh...ah_cleanlap.wmv

Here are more comments and thoughts on it.

Sounds like scary stuff to me.[:-s] Guess I'll be REAL conservative when/if I run that one in LilRed. It sounds more like a go-cart track on steroids than a race track!

Not spending thousands of $ on LilRed for her to end up as a big pile of fiberglass! Sounds like this is one of those courses that I'd like a POS vette to tool around in. You know, just a couple thou, paint chipping, some cracks, torn-up interior, not so nice looking or riding, but does the job. Go a little too hot into a turn, crash into a tire wall...oh well, my bad...it's a POS track car. Heehee.

Not at all. Your car may look rough but dayam, Mike...she certainly doesn't ride/handle rough. One heck of a nice RACE car!

Besides...note I said POS vette for $2K...your car could never be classified in that category! http://www.geocities.com/six_speed/images/Icons/bowdown.gif

I think this track is a prime example of a great idea lost to very poor implementation. Too much in too little space. Compare this track to any "Alan Wilson" designed track (CMP, BeaveRun and others) and tell me which is safer (and more fun) to run. I don't want to "see wall" and constantly be reminded that one relatively small misjudgement or mechanical failure can wipe me out. The combination of being a highly technical course with little or no runoff is a disaster waiting to happen. I don't know how Shennandoah is going to fair financially. I really hope it doesn't cause the rest of Summit Point to fail.[:(]

Hey Ralph, I think we should rent a couple of V6 Mustangs out there and go try it out. I might be a blast if you aren't pushing it.

I haven't read the threads on the other forum yet. I went to the track on Sunday to watch. The accident in the Z06 was on Saturday. He probably used his brakes after cresting the hill on the straight that passes under the bridge. He hit the inside barrier. Can't use the brakes when the rear end is unloaded that much.
Most of the Vettes and higher horsepower cars were not using the banking of the infamous turn. They usually went around the top on a flat section.
There were 18 turns in the configuration last weekend. Two long straights for passing. Car Guys looked like they put on a good event. The drivers seemed pleased. There was a V-12 Mercedes that sounded and moved fine.

I watched the video last night at home (firewall problem at work) and I'm convinced the track is best used for time trials (not fender-to-fender racing). I got dizzy watching the driver cranking the wheel left and right and the track is too narrow. It may be a fun track to drive at something (much) less than 10/10ths and I wouldn't mind trying it but I'm definitely not going to "race" it.

Corvettes bottom out on that banked section, I was scraping my airdamn just going around it at 15 mph.

I have video from my slow lap

Sure. I'll have a race ready Miata with fresh tires waiting for you. $500, and if you break it, you bought it.
