I have never purchased a "trickle battery charger," so I get confused on what brand to get for my 96 vette with LT1 engine.
Any and all advice is very appreciated. I can't get a solar because car is garaged . Do I need 1 amp or 3 amps, for example?
Do I connect them to the batter and then plug into an outlet....or do they plug into cigarette lighter and plugged into outlet?

Thanks so much, Jonesy

What do you want to use it for? Just to keep the battery up this winter while the car is snug in the garage or what?

A good multi-function (trickle, deep, start ) charger, isn't that expensive.

Personally, if I'm storing a car, I like to remove the battery and place it on a piece of wood (not metal or concrete), add Sta-Bil http://www.goldeagle.com/sta-bil/ to a full tank of gas, change the oil and top off all the fluids.

Ecklers sells one ... check out their website (http://www.ecklers.com) or call them and see if it fits your needs. I bought one from them and it works great (I also forgot one year and gave birth to a dead spring-time battery).

Used one for years that I bought at Wal-Mart for about $30. I don't remember the brand name. It's fairly small and can be mounted in the engine compartment.

I didn't mount it on-board, rather, I made a wire with an in-line fuse and polarized connectors for easy connection from outside the car.

I can get the brand if you're interested.
