Looking to buy and install this exhaust system on my 04 coupe. Anyone have personal experience with this system?
Also, since I have no place to install these pipes, can someone recommend a local (Kingstowne, Springfield, Fairfax) location? Also, can you estimate an installation price?
According to Corsa, it reduces the engine noise within the cockpit (passenger area) and provides a small increase in hp.
Thanks for your help. [:D]

Check with Joe up at Koons. I think he installed Jeff Kirk's system.

Just thought of something else. [:-/]
Have seen something called an "X Pipe" used as part of this exhaust system. Anybody know what it's supposed to improve on the exhause system (noise reducton, enhanced flow, etc.)???
Thanks again for your help. [:D]

An X-pipe enhances flow and equalizes back pressure -- more HP and torque. It's worth adding. So are headers if you have the $$$.

John, thanks for the info. Will definitely get the X pipe, particularly if it helps with noise reduction.
I bought the Corsa exhaust through the Corvette Forum auction last night ($705.00 including shipping). [:D] [:D]
Do you have a good local source for the X pipe and headers? [:-/]
BTW, left a message at Koons Chevy on the installation but haven't heard anything from them yet. [/:)]

I've not purchased one locally, but places like west coast corvette and ecklers carry them online. I think we still have some links to vendors on our site. If not check out www.corvetteforum.com -- they have tons of online links and you're sure to find a fair price on one of the sites.[B-)]
[:-/] I don't know about noise reduction -- I just focus on HP/Torque. Maybe someone else can comment on the noise characteristics of the x-pipe.

Checked out CF links. Cheapest I've found is $249 plus shipping. Gonna order that as soon as the the Corsa's arrive. [:D]

I have installed both on my car, and love them, as I told you call me at home and I will tell you all about them...Collin

Just bought a one year old Corsa X pipe from a guy in PA. Should be here in about 10 days (gotta wait for PayPal to go through).

The X-pipe is used to equalize backpreasure, mostly by allowing the exhaust to share the two downpipes when two cylinders on the same side of the block exhaust simultaneously. Otherwise, your trying to force a double shot down a single tube and get backpreassure due to contention. That means better flow, more torque and a few more horses.
This will even out the sound coming out of the tips, but won't really help much with making the system quieter.

Two issues:
Yes, I have the Corsa's and LOOOOOOOOOVE THEM!!! Pace car rocks. The only thing you might run into is the warranty, which of course you wont have since you didn't buy them from a distributor. May not be a big deal, but one of my pipes broke a weld and I sounded like a Datsun B210 for awhile. Fortunately, Corsa just asked for the sales slip, and a new one was at Koons in days. Joe Malo did the work..and he's the man.
Secondly, I dont have the X pipe on my car, and I'm not sure that I ever will. the X pipe does add some HP by equalizing the air flow through the pipes, but it also removes the "burble" from the pipes, which if anyone who has been in my car knows...rocks. I love hearing that "pop pop pop" when I'm letting the engine slow the car down. But..thats just me :)
Jeff
Best of luck.

Actually, even though it was purchased through the Corvette Forum auction, it was shipped directly from the factory and came with the full warranty. [:D] [:D] And the price was $200 less than any I've seen for the same system and included free shipping.
I got the X-pipe from a guy in Southern PA from the CF as well. Cost me $165 delivered. I had heard from many sources that it removes the annoying sound increase in the cockpit when the engine is between 1500-2200 RPM. It does that job beautifully. It's nice to be able to carry on a normal conversation while driving.
This is really my first major mod and I've been very happy with the results. Love the sound of the Corsa system, particularly when I punch it a bit.
Now if I can only get rid of the annoying tire noise from the stock Goodyears.....[:D]

You know now that you have all the nice Corsa done with the X-pipe let me tell you about what i did to reduce tire and exhaust noise in the cockpit. I bought one of those covered styrofoam barriers that goes behind the seats and fits snug. My wife is not exactly crazy about the sound of the z06 when we are cruising so I pop in the barrier when she comes in the car and the decibel count is reduced significantly. i.e., normal conversation versus yelling! p.s. WHEN I'M alone in the car OUT goes the barrier, UP goes the radio COOL!

I'm sorry, I totally disagree. Not only do I love the sound the pipes are making outside of the car, I like the way it reduces the noise I hear inside the car. Imagine, driving with a g/f in the car for hours with no fighting...woo hoo. I mean...she's yelling I'm sure, but..I cant hear..so...(shrug).
Life is good :)

Oh, you can hear the pipes! Not doubt about it -- I have the Indy system installed. What I did not want (and what the X-pipe eliminated) was the annoying cockpit noise between 1500-2200 RPM. Now I can hear the sweet tones the Corsay Indys produce just cruising around town and I can still carry on a normal conversation. But at WOT, they produce the deep, loud rumble that we all love when we put our right foot to the floor.

Hey now...it's not that I dont get along with women...just that..well...they drive a man nuts.
I was listening to a comedian one day talk about having two women in bed at the same time...and the line was..."What sane man would want to have 2 women in the bed at the same time? I mean...does he really want to have two women complaining that they dont spend enough time together? Or that they dont talk?"..
But....dont worry...we love women. :) Just...well...we like our "male time" as well :)
