I was talking w/ a friend of mine when another aquaintance came up and said he had just bought a set of tickets to Dave Hill's home for dinner and the preview of the new Z06 - this will be BEFORE the auto show intro [B-)]

I really do not believe much of the baloney floating around about the car right now - It will be interesting though, what the final power numbers are - nobody (the engineers) would commit to 500hp that I spoke to at Bowling Green last month, including Mr. Hill. [:-/]

Remember this, you will pay big bucks for this car, don't get sticker shock if you see it going for 70K....Horsepower cost Dollars and you pay dearly for it. My sources tell me the Z06 will be equal to the cost of basline VIPER...so save you pennies, nickels, dimes, etc. You will need it. Also the Grill of the Z06 is entirely different looking then the 2005 Corvette, and the back is slightly different too. It will be a snake Killer...

I know but 400rwhp in a car with street (sitting in rush hour traffic) manners and a warranty is [B-)] .

As for the sticker shock, I'm still thinking it will be south of $70K. Unless they really go with something exotic that they aren't mentioning there isn't anything there that should send the sticker price over $60K.

A 7.0L 500hp motor doesn't cost $20K. I'm willing to drop $50K. I might even go to $60 but any higher and there are too many other options available.

The entire problem with the next Z06.. or 07 or whatever it is being called is that GM is releasing lots of, to quote Laurie, "shite" and no real facts.
Lots of 7 liter, 500hp rumours but nothing about $$$$ cost, suspension, weitgt etc.
My belief is that car will be different than the hearsay when it does come out.

Man, Talk about a woody! That is going to be a bad Mamba Jamba! I just hope they have figured out how to keep all those horses on the ground. That's going to be the whole key. It's like woodsy said. There is a piont where too much HP is too much if it isn't with the right suspention. Thats all you need is to go into a turn at 120 and see your rear end before you see the nose of the car! [#-o]

Mike, I have $1200 resaons that the warranty that comes with these cars isn't quite all we would hope for unless you use it to go get groceries.....My video tape included with my car stated to ADD 1 QT of oil when I "RACED" the car, then drain it back out.

When the output shaft took a shite, the factory rep says.... "WHOA FELLA" you have raced this car, so your powertrain warranty is VOIDSVILLE! SO.... nice thoughts but try to collect.... [:((]

There will be two High Performance Corvettes released. The Z06 will have around 470 HP...another one that will be limited will be released in a year...nicknamed BLUE DEVIL, this is one designation will be Z-06 R that is specifically aimed for the VIPER and FORD GT for the race track and will cost around 75 - 80 K.... This has been the plan all along and the BLUE DEVIL project is using the 7 Liter engine. Ironically the 7.0 Liter is a 427 CI...sound familiar..... Also, the paddle system will be employed alond with a special hood, rear quarter panels, rear fascia. and some other special body pieces. This Z06R will be limited and VERY Expensive. It basically is the C5R race version in a C6 body. Still they are working on the frame..Aluminium Magnisium...for weight...and several other cabon fiber pieces. Interior, no power windows, special seats and 5 point constraints with little to NOW power or creature convineces in the car.

Called a friend today and got some of the skinny...but he was unable to give me the GOOD STUFF until a couple of more weeks.... [:D]

That sucks Brian. How did they know that you had 'raced' it? I guess it also comes down to what they consider racing (autocross, HPDE, etc.)?
