Did you guys compare your tires after Spooktacular? What kind of wear did you see?
I didn't get to compare your times. Overall for the weekend across all runs how did they compare?
Jim, did you see any difference with Wanda driving the car on Sunday?
Feedback and commentary would be [B-)]

I was impressed by the 710s. between my runs, fun runs and Wanda there were over 30 laps and they showed little wear. At the completion of the runs the tires never seemed "hot" and air pressures only went up by a pound indicating they did not heat up. There wasn't any grip improvement on Sunday when Wanda and I were both running as, again, the tire tempetures didn't change. I liked them!
Oh where did you get that $100 tire temp gauge?

I know OGRacing sells the pyrometer...is that where you got it?
Speaking of tires, I need a GOOD tire pressure gauge. The one I have sux butt. Recommendations?
Sorry...just realized I kinda hijacked this thread. My bad. [:(]

Racer Parts Wholesale (http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/) but you can also check out Stock Car Products (http://www.stockcarproducts.com/align9.htm)
Stock Car Products has the brake probes. According to the instructions, you shouldn't use the same probe for tires and brake rotors.

OG Racing is a little expensive. I only use them when I am in a hurry to get something or I don't want to pay the shipping on a large item. Also accroding to their on-line catalog they don't have the inexpensive probes.
You can get a good air guage at all most any auto parts store. Basically the ones I like have a short rubber extention and a release valve on them. http://www.hvaa.com/images/dial_gauge.jpg
They normally run $15 - $20.

How'd you get a pic of my tire gauge on there?
I also have a really cool one that has an LED readout and a flashlight ;) (ok..prolly not accurate, but it looks neat and works great in the dark!)

My two cents on the comp, MIKE, would be that the 710's would outperform the R3S04's in the Spook; based on the fact the R compound is made for an event like FATT.... 20-30 mins strait, not a minute or less. Dont get me wrong, my R3S04's did get hot and did increase some pressure in my runs, but I was loose in the esses and the hairpin on top. As opposed to my FATT last JULY (hotter day) and those Hoosiers stuck like glue on the big track...
[:)] and thats my story......... and I am sticking to it! lol

I sure would like to get more data on the 710s. The only thing I can find on the web "Achieving the best performance requires that fresh ECSTA V710 tires be used, as their performance level will drop off after a typical race weekend's use." and a couple of other similar comments lead me to believe they aren't really an autocross (Spook) tire but more designed for FATTs.
Woodsie had the A3S04s ( I think they were new for the event), maybe it would be better to compare his tires against the R3S04s and the V710s.

MIKE ...the A compounds would work dandy at the SPOOK and Woodsie showed that... then again, GANNON had the 710's on HIS car and he showed us they work too!
I am convinced my R coumpounds were NOT the tire to run...
As for the 710's on a an autocross.....I got beat up here by a 2000 coupe (owner claiming stock [;)] ) against my 2yr old A oun a compounds... so they do hook in a short course..
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR... maybe we need to get a MIATA and say the heck with it all....lol [:D]

Sounds like a plan! [;)] Just think $281 for all 4 tires instead of just one. (not quite, but almost)

Mike,
I liked the Hoosiers .... I just lack experience with them. Mike W. seemed to do well with them.
I did get them to heat up a little and I'm guessing that their true advantage is in longer runs. But as far as the tire wear -- they look great with minimal wear showing.

John,
Are you running the A3S04s or the R3S04s? Mike W is running the A3S04s. At first he thought the A compound might have been the wrong choice.

In my case I think the tires were fine --- I just need some more practice with them. I'm still learning how they react, however I'm very impressed how well they stick when they are hot.

The A compunds were a bit greasy. I think the are more suited for the under 30 mph low speed autoX.
