The LilRed is doing better these days. New water pump installed (old one didn't leak onto the opti spark, yippee!), dexcool and water wetter...engine running MUCH cooler now. Awaiting new serpentine belt on backorder from Zip (had to use up a credit).
Brakes WAYYYY better, too...braided lines are in, with superblue, and Hawk HP Plus pads...car stops on a dime! Wow, what a difference...
Am I the only person who gets excited when packages from Mid-America, Zip, et al show up at the door, like it's Christmas? New stuff to play with rocks!
Got more stuff I need to get...I swear, once you start, you can never stop! Always something that could use improvement. Kudos to Joe and his expertise/advice...

[B-)] glad to hear she is feeling better. We can do a little surgery on her over the winter and she'll be just fine.
{Unlike George she won't require any PT [physical therapy] to get back into shape after surgery} [:D] [>:)]

Absolutely NOT! [;)]
Of course the more you spend the packages start coming from other places though. (TireRack, Summit, TireRack, Jegs, TireRack) You get the idea. [:))]
What you really need to make her happy is a set of these...

Yeah...next thing is a bias spring, and gonna check out those used Bilsteins from Chuck at Spook. Can't beat the price. Also, urethane bushings. Man...this never stops! Stop finding stuff wrong with my poor 10 year old 'vette, guys...

Ugh...I get Mid America, Zip, and The Last Detail Catalogs on a weekly basis now. Guess they found a sucker, eh?

Um...no. Now that's pushing it. I actually like the stock wheels...I know you modders find that scary and shocking but oh well.

but it's not all about looks... those wheels are about 10 - 15 pounds lighter each.
The BEST place to reduce weight is in the wheels because it save both reciprocating weight and unsprung weight.

Spoken like a true racer! [:D] I'll pass on those wheels, though.
I've given *some* thought as to what I'd like to do to the car. As stuff goes on it, I want to replace it with higher quality parts that will be race/autoX worthy yet still street legal. Not all of us can afford to tow our "toys" to the track! [:p]
Thus the better quality brake pads, lines, and fluid. When the rotors go, I will consider upgrading those as well. I have quite a while before I need to worry about that yet, though.
It's apparent that LilRed's former owner, though she was well cared for, didn't spend a lot of dough on her. The brake pads were crappy Napa ones that were falling apart. Being 10 years old, she's needing some TLC...I just wanna give her that and then some!

This was my goal for the 88 before it was sold, get her solid with new bushings, shocks, etc. Then run a year or so in the stock class, if you can last that long [:))]
Then it gets nuts and eventually you will lust after those wheels [:)]

Figures...serpentine belt on backorder arrived in today's mail. Couldn't have come 20 hours earlier!
Poor Joe is gonna hate me...

Same here. Gonna grab those Bilsteins if they check out well from Chuck this weekend at Spook. Urethane bushings, too. A good next project!

I'm gonna *try* (note: try being the operative word) not to get too caught up/crazy with this stuff. I give no guarantees, however.
Just want to make this car as solid as possible. There are some things that are stock that I like and refuse to give up. There certainly are many other things that I can spend $ on and improve, however. [B-)]

James - I was in shock at the Spook, when you told me your 88 had been sold while you were out!! [:((]
I guess that leaves the door wide open for another, right???

Yea, I'll be looking for an inexpensive 89, 90, 91 sometime in the spring. Lack of fundage until then. I've seen the Lt1 engine bay and its not something I want to try and work on so I'll be looking for a L98 car. If my fat feet fit I'd like to find a 6 speed, otherwise an Auto will do.
Good deal James - I ahve seen a few 6 speeds in those years recently in the Post & elsewhere...
Let me know when you are ready, in the meantime I will keep an eye open for you - but you know how partial I am to 89's [:D]

Yea, If i could aford it I'd try to talk you out of the red one [:D]
[For the other folks - His red one is a sweet 89 B2K. He'd never sell it too me cause I'd take it to the track [:D] ]
I'll let you know when I'm ready to shop. You are on my short list of folks to ask to help me look.

$1800 for a set of 4...probably at the bottom of my list right now. LilRed still needs more lovin' first. Maybe if I hit the lottery...hmm
