Hello! I am trying to find something to do on October 9th that involves autocrossing :)
I see that it is invitation only. Who would I contact to find more info?
Thanks!
Mike

You need to speak with Andre Balanc. He should chime in.
He will want to know a few things like
What kind of car are you running?
Have you run in a high speed event?
Do you have any certification such as NCCC high speed, NASA, SCCA, COM license?

Elaborating upon this a little for the benefit of those new to our website:
October 9th is one of our dates (Oct. 9-10) during our annual high speed autoX event called Spooktacular. It is held at Summit Point. You must have 10 low speed autoX events under your belt or have attended a high speed driving school within a specified amount of time in order to obtain your high speed license to particpate in Spook (or any high speed event for that matter). I will let our Spooktacular Chair (Andrej Balanc) elaborate further on the details. Also see the Spooktacular Page on this website for information, requirements, costs, etc...
Our low speed autoX are held at Old Dominion Speedway. See the AutoX Page on this website for information such as who is invited, requirements, fees, and calendar of dates.
Hope this helps.

Basically you and your car need to meet our basic qualifications. What kind of a car do you have? Is it modified? If you have a stock car, all you need equipment-wise is a helmet and a fire extinguisher (mounted in the car). If you have modified the car significantly, you may need to have a roll bar and fire suit. Have you done 10 autocrosses or a high speed driving school within the last 18 months?
Let me know.

Thanks Andrej. Is there an event on the 9th? I don't see it on the listing for autocross. I might not be able to make the 9th now, but I be eligible for the 16th?
I tried replying to you but your emails are on my laptop - I'm on my desktop. I have done 30+ autocrosses this year: http://home.dejazzd.com/mlouie/mike2004.html
Most events done with http://www.scca-susq.com, a few with Lancaster County Corvette Club (been running with them for about 6 years), North NJ SCCA, South NJ SCCA, Philadelphia Region SCCA, Northeast PA Region SCCA and just got back from Topeka, KS for the 2004 National Championships :)

Mike,
The autocross on the 9th is one of our major events and is listed seperately from the other autocrosses.
Our regular autocrosses are held at Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas. They probably aren't quite what you are used to. We set up gates around a 3/8 mile oval track and do 3 runs. Each run consists of 3 laps around the track.
The speeds are a little higher than what you would do at a parking lot event.
We have an event there this Sunday, then again on the 16th and the 31st of October.

Mike,
Check out the Spook link on the left side of our web page. Lots of info on the stuff going on Oct 9/10. We are having a series of 9 autoxes on the Jefferson Circuit, Summit Point, WV those two days. They are high speed, ie no cones and on a RACE TRACK (can you say fun!). You will get into 4th gear/100mph+. It is very different from a parking lot with cones, hence the need for prior experience. Tech is also more stringent than most parking lot autoxes (see Woodsies post in the Spook subsection of this forum).
My email address is urtoslo@adelphia.net, and if you click on most of the forum names in a message, it will give you the info too.
If you have any questions, fire away, some one will answer you shortly.

Yeah I'm looking for an autocross to stay legal for my Valvoline Cup and Slide Rule Cup competition status.
They do not consider high speed type competitions autocrosses :p
Do your "open" events bring in other sorts of cars besides Corvettes? Do you guys run an "open class" like some of the Corvette clubs here in Lancaster?

The event is open to other makes of cars, but unless I run my Spec Miata, there are only Vettes running this year. We will have an open class for those other guys.
