Dear Joe, I am the proud owner of a newly purchased 1990 L98 Corvette, 6 speed with Z51 package and 45,000 miles always garaged, covered and well cared for. This is my third Corvette ('78 Silver Anniversary L82; '86 4+3) I picked up the car last satyrday and it was running OK, had the original cap and rotor, so was missing low end. Plugs were just done. I put on a new cap and rotor and for a day it ran and started very well. Several hours of driving later produced a check engine soon light and the engine completely stopped while I was under was in second gear, and it will not start at all. I had it towed to a local mechanic who checked the codes and got "multiple" codes. The fuel pump is good (working) and there is adequate pressure in the rail. Spark is also good (he replaced the distr "module" to be sure ) He says now that the fuel injectors are not "pulsing". Similar to VAT cutoff, except that the engine turns over when you turn the key. He has tried a new ECM and is going to check another module ? behind the dash near the radio. PLEASE let me know your thoughts regarding the problem. I had my '86 for several years and the only electronic fuel/spark/emmission problem I ever had was with a bad TPS sensor that allowed me to "limp" home. Thanks very much for any suggestions. My mechanic can't seem to solve this one and I'm ready to have it towed to a dealer which is what I probably should have done in the first place. Regards, Steve Cangelosi

Steve,

Sorry to hear the bad news. You may want to call Koons (703)448-7221 and ask for Joe Malo directly. If nothing else he can give you some heads up and get you with the service guys to bring your car in. Joe's been an excellent resource to the club, and hopefully can get you back on the road asap.

Jeff

Steve, Congrats on buying the '90, sorry to hear about the way it's running... You are not having a VATs problem and I'm not to shure what module your tech is looking for under the dash. The first thing I would do is make shure that you transfered the ground strap inside the cap when you replaced it. It is the metal bar that goes under the coil and forgotten quite often. The engine will run for a short time with out it. If that is there, the list is long for things to look for. I'd be more than happy to look at it for you. Joe
