...on the toll road going west at around 7:30PM. It was a silver one with those lovely temp tags on...didn't see a front license plate or even a spot for it so I'm wondering if someone got away with somethin'... [:-?] Good...I can't stand tags on the front of cars, especially 'vettes.

Still miss the pop-up headlights (I know, I know, get over it). Guess I have always loved the C4 the most..but I think they're ALL nice. [B-)] Someone's gotta tell the dude driving it that he should STW, though. [:(]

I don't get the fascination with the pop-up headlights. They add weight, they fail mechanically, and they create drag when they are on.

And yet, despite everything they are probably the one biggest complaint I have heard. Personally I was http://forums.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/hurray.gif when I saw that they were finally gone.

I'm sure someone will come up with an aftermarket add-on to replace the new headlights with a pop-up conversion within a year or two.

Wow. I've never had a problem with them on any of the 'vettes in our family. But I suppose I can understand why some people feel differently.

That, or...mark my words...they'll be back. Just a feeling...

It is sad to say the C6 does have a front tag bracket and it is butt ugly when installed.... It sticks to the center of the nose. Youhopefully wont see many of them. At Koons we are leaving up to the new parent weather they want to add a hanging booger the the nose of there new born beauty....

[:))] LMAO here...

Apparently this guy opted out of the "booger" because the nose looked clean. [:)] But Collin posted a picture of the front tag bracket in another post and I agree, it is butt-ugly![:-&]

Mike, the facination with the pop up headlights is simple, not too many cars have them, they go back to when Corvette grew up, and it neat just seeing those little sucker turn over and shed light on the road, its was set CORVETTE apart form all the other cars in the 60's. Everyone loves to see the lights turn over and on...it just cool.

Hits the nail on the head for me. I'll admit when I started driving the '87 Mom and I would turn those suckers on and off just to amuse ourselves. I'll take history over technology any day. Guess I'll always be sweet on the C4 in particular because it has a decent enough combination of both for me.

Was discussing this very thread with Paul the other day...what is really cool about the C4 is that they double-flip. [B-)] Whenever I drive this thing when it's starting to get dark, putting them on ALWAYS turns heads.

Looking at that C6 in my rear view mirror it just looks like any other European sportscar out there. BAH! If that's what I wanted, I'd go buy one. But I'd prefer America's fave sportscar...[:D]

My 2 cents...

I guess the 'pop-ups' are one of those things that we will have to agree to disagree on. [:D]

I guess I have to much of the (system) 'engineer' in me. "The design should only be as complex as the functionality requires." [;)]

I was talking to one of the (Mazda RX7) guys at work today. (We were both at Koon's on Saturday).

He asked why there wasn't more a design change (body style) between the C5 and the C6. His comment was that he didn't really see any difference between the design changes between the C5s and the C6s and the changes between the 79 and 80 sharks and the 90 and 91 C4s.

When I started thinking about it, I couldn't find an answer.

Right now I've got my fingers crossed for the C6 Z06. [;)]

It's cool. I can definitely see your view on that; makes total sense. I'm just a sucker for "tradition". [;)]

I'm with ya Laurie and those who are fans of the pop-ups...at the same time I could see myself taking the improvements and 50 more horses over the 'turn table' lighting system...if you catch my drift. [B-)]

I checked out the C6's carefully in person for the first time in PA...but haven't seen one on the open road or driven one yet...that'll be the test for sure. I'm still loving my C5 and will enjoy it until a C6 or another C4-C5 for "track use." [:D]

Laurie,

I'm with you all the way on the pop-up headlights. When I see the C6 I wonder "is this a Datsun 280Z?" [:O] Yes, I'm old enough to remember those. When we got our '94 I would stand in front of the car and have Don turn the lights off and on so I could see 'em roll over. Way cool. [>:D<] We've had a C3, C4 and C5 and never had a speck of trouble with the pop-up headlights until Don and I went out of commission for the first half of this year and the C5 just sat in the garage (crying, I believe) [:((] and then one of the lights wouldn't go up. But still under the warranty and working fine now. I love all the Vettes but will love the pop-ups forever.

Personaly I am a fan of the pop-ups myself, but I think it's more of the mystique when they are down and the car looks as though it doesn't have any head lights. It makes it look more aggresive, and sleeker. The new headlights will grow on me in time I guess, but until then it make the Vette look like just another sports car.

The interior felt very comfortable and tight in the seat to me however the upper dash and everything else was plastic. I did like the short throw shifter in it though, that felt real good in the hand. Mike was right on the money when he said the rear end looked bigger. Out of curiosity I'm going to take a tape up to Koons at meeting night and take some measurements. I think the larger wheels have something to do with that. [:-/]

The BOOGER has got to go!!!! Chevy has to come up with something better!! There is no way around that. The BOOGER HAS TO GO!!!! [:-&] [:-&] [:-&] [X-(] [X-(] [X-(] [[-(] [[-(] [[-(]

I think they might be more appealing if they would let you have more options on the performance side of things, but I guess they have to keep the after marketers buisy. Either that or they will have those options when the new Z06/Z07 comes out in 2006.

Overall I think that performance wise the C6 is going to be a smash hit in 2 or 3 years. The big question is is Chevy goin to take the constuctive critisisum for there loyal customers to improve on what they have, or are they going to be hard headed and say take it or leave it? [:-/]

I took a walk around the parking lot at lunch today and to my surprise I find a http://www.fast-autos.net/ferrari/3606.jpg

Personally I think the new headlights look a lot more like these then anything else I have seen.

Not quite what I would call a Miata or a Viper. [;)]

I recall saying the headlights look like a lot of other European sports cars out there. A Ferrari falls under that category. [;)] I don't think "Viper" or "Miata" came out of my mouth...[:-?]

Yeahs, Ferraris RAWK and all, but I've always preferred buying American. Would I turn a Ferrari down if one was handed over to me? Heck no! But, yeah, I'm a 'Vette Nerd...*shrugs*
