I need to get the tags for the new trailer but don't feel like spending the day at DMV. Does anyone have to go already? [[-o<]

Well I have to go, but it shouldn't take me more than 10 min to give them $65 and them to hand me stickers that say 2006 [:D]
Well thats how long it took when I went in the drive through to renew the Corvette last year . . .
Isn't it horrid when you know it will take all day to get tags for it. Hours to stand in line to get a number, then hours to wait for your number. Then 10 minutes to complete the transaction.
DMV sucks!

I have to go the DMV next week (I think it's where I need to go), my daugher is getting her 'learners permit' so we will be there. I'm not sure what is involved to get the tags, but do I have to be a US citizen? Our vehicle tags come directly from the US State Dept. What are the chances that I would be able to pick up the tags? Would I get a hassle?

I don't know but knowing VA DMV they will give ANYONE a hassle.
I guess I'll just suck it up and hit one on a Saturday. [:((]
Thanks for the offer Wanda. [B-)]
Oh and yes, you get learners permits at the DMV. Bring a BIG book to read. [X-(]

This should be REAL enlightening. [;)] [:-/]
Everytime I've been there more then half of the people are non-citizens so that shouldn't be a problem. However the last time I took one of the girls to get her learners permit she needed a birth certificate and a social security card. [:-?]
You can find the documents you need now at
http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/pdf/dmv141.pdf
also check
http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/citizen/drivers/eligibility.asp
...oh and forget about finding a clerk that speaks CaNaDian, you'll be lucky to find one that speaks English. [:D]
Good Luck

Hey, how can you tell if they are non-citizens? [:-/] [:-?]

Hey, how can you tell if they are non-citizens?
Might be an assumption but when they use a green card, a passport, etc. as an ID I would think the odds were pretty good. [;)]

Thanks for ALL the advise with regards to DMV. I'm really really [:^o] looking forward to spending the day there. I think we have all of our ducks in a row with all of the documentation we need. We'll fit right in with everyone else that has a passport! You're probably right though, no one will be speaking Canadian, EH!

Lynn took Nick to the Leesburg DMV and was out in probably half an hour.... It might be worth the trip. It's right across the street (Rt 15 bypass) from the outlet mall.
And they speak Canadian! [:D] [;)] [B-)]

Have to agree with Andrej on that one...Leesburg is quick down and dirty...less hassle and wait.
