I just heard a rumour that dealer mechanics working on the C6 Z06 motor will be required to attend a Chevy/GM certified training class prior to the cars release.

How it works is this.... For a dealership to be paid by G.M. the dealer has to have people trained to repair the product. Weather it is a Metro or a Corvette. By doing this G.M. limits carless mistakes and unneeded part replacement. Better quality repairs for both you and G.M.

There is a lot of stuff flying around and 'clouding' the waters. The most common is that the C6 Z06 motor will be an LS7 that is hand assembled in the new GM performance plant. The latest is the contract signed between GM and McLaren for McLaren to produce high performance engine blocks and heads, and the use of direct injection.

I think the GM certified training was an attempt to lend validity to a special motor or new technology. From Joe's statement it would appear the GM certification is required for all new models.
