The Mini has arrived, although the photo below does not show the newly installed checkerboard roof and white bonnet stripes(I will post again), the car arrived a week ago and already has over 1800 miles on it...took it to a trip to Erie, Pennsylvania, to Meg's high school class reunion. Needless to say the car was the hit of the reunion, nobody in Meadville, PA ever really saw one.

So now I introduce to you, Suzy Q. Mini people name there cars, its part of the mini legecy. The name I chose comes from the book Restoration of Suzy Q., the restortion of the 63 Coupe. How appropriate [:D]

The car averages about 30 MPG, its extremely comfortable to drive, has a killer radio, I go satellite installed in the stock radio. The drive is unbelievable, and it handles like you would not beleive. The car is lacking the pickup and off the line grunt, but once it gets going, it will cruise at 75 all day long. Little to no road noice, I have 15 inch EMT run flats so the drive is a little harder then what you normally would have in this type of car. It an automatic but I can drive standard without clutch.....and it works. I will post more photos, later on. You got to see the checkerboard roof...

Well let the mods begin: I already ordered some extra chrome pieces (aftermarket) from England, to replace the black plastic, such as the plastic on the side with the amber light, I got chrome "Gills", under the Windshield, the air vents, chromed vents, a rally polished aluminum gas tank cover to replace the standard flip open thing, and even the chrome windshield washer nozzles (they are black) getting them chrome. Got the red paint for the brake calibers, hope to have time to get that up on blocks this week-end and do that.....

This should dress up Suzy Q a little bit.....I have to admit, the car is much tighter and nicer then I thought....as Mini Owners say

"Let's Motor"...... [:))]

Okay Collin, time to get some competition wheels and tires and bring it out to the autocrosses. [:D]

I can see you in your Mini and Andrej in his Miata beating up on us on the time.

Looking sweet guy, glad you like her. One of the guys here in the office is looking at ordering one. The number and type of options available are unbelievable.

How does it drive on the highway? I've been tempted to find a gas miser because I drive alot of highway miles. I'm a little shy of getting something that the semi's blow sideways as they go by (had a '62 Beetle once.)

Just come back from a long trip to Erie, PA. I averaged 30MPG, but its a BMW Engine and uses premium gas. So there is a trade off. I cruised at 75 MPH and some places cruise at 80 MPH. NO highway noise, like you normally get with small cars, hadles great. If you are interested I will hook you up with the Manager at Sterling Mini...he and I have become good friends and he lives in Purcellville. He now visits me ...he is another car nut too.

I looked at many of the smaller cars including the Prius...decided to get a car that was FUN...and I am telling you the people with MINIs are just like Corvette people...they love there cars...

Let me know if you are interested...Collin

I will be in touch. If anyone sells the mini @ sticker, then I will give them serious consideration.
I'm within 6 months of buying. I'm waiting to see the new Mustang for comparison. I will compare the mini, 'stang, Acura RSX, and subaru. Best deal, best looks, most fun wins.

Life is too short to drive something without character or utility.
