Hi, this is Don Patrick [%%-] , the liaison between NVCC and the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. If you have any questions about the museum please let me know. NVCC has a card (which resides with our president, Paul Hertel) that gives you free admission to the museum and a 10% discount at the museum store or from the catalog.

Hi Don, Irene and I are seriously considering going to the 11th Annual Labor Day Corvette Celebration. We want to get totally immersed in the celebration. Do you think it would be worth going? Immersed obviously includes the plant tour, getting the buildsheet, window sticker, brochure etc (which we can get online), along with the scenic road tours (Bourbon center of course), gimmic tours, car shows, the Corvette Store, etc.
thanks for any advice/ideas. Jerry & Irene

Sounds like this is similar to the Corvetteforum Cruise In's that are also put on by the museum. The road tours are great, plant tour is something you have to do. You'll meet and greet lots of other Corvette enthusiasts from around the country.
What you probably want to do is call the museum itself and see what kind of attendance they've had in the past and how many vendors are scheduled.

Hi Irene and Jerry,
This is Don using Judy's log-in.
All the events the NCM puts on are awesome and well worth doing. I've lost count of how many times we've been to the museum, the plant tours and NCM events and enjoyed ourselves every time. You will make a LOT of new Corvette friends. It's mind-boggling to see that many Corvettes in one place.
The road cruises are a lot of fun and a way to see the Kentucky countryside and other attractions. The buildsheet is always nice to have. The museum's front lawn is always full of vendors and they usually offer discounted prices from the stores and catalogs. The museum store will have a sale going on and it is quite a large store.
The only thing we would never do again is a caravan. They are dangerous - - if you are at the back of the pack you alternate between 25 and 95 mph. Not worth it.
If you do go, look for the club brick in the section right in front of the door. The brick itself isn't right in front of the door but in that large area right in front of the door. Judy and I also have a brick there and there is one in honor of a deceased member, Phil Filer.
If you have any more specific questions please let me know. Oh and by now you probably won't be able to stay in Bowling Green but Nashville is only 60 miles away and a lot of people stay there. Who minds driving 60 miles in a Corvette? If you do stay there I highly recommend the Opryland Hotel. It is not cheap but everyone should stay there at least once in their life. It's Judy's favorite hotel.

James, thanks. We're signed up for the Plant tour and the Bourbon center cruise (naturally!).
I just got my id and password to resync this morning.

Don, thanks for the information. We will check out the Club brick.
We signed up for the Bourbon Center Cruise, with a max of 28 cars, so we'll get there early to be at the front of the pack.
We were lucky enough to get the Courtyard Marriott - only 4 rooms were left and we grabbed the last king nonsmoking!
I plan on taking a few pictures, which I can share with the club.
I had to reset my password, otherwise I would have responded sooner.
thanks again, Jerry

Jerry,
Don wasn't referring to the cruises. He meant the national caravan where people from all over the continent start out as groups and keep meeting other groups in cities on the way to Bowling Green and you end up with hundreds of cars in each group that converges on Bowling Green. Once you get to Bowling Green any cruise or caravan is a blast but the large one is dangerous if you are at the back of the line.
Judy
P.S. Good to see you yesterday!

Judy, thanks for clarifying. Yes that type of a caravan would be nuts and very dangerous. We are getting psyched and ready to go!

George, I plan on buring a few rolls, which I'll save the best to a CD and share with the club. I may even get Irene to hang out the car or stand up (like you did in the past) to record the Bourbon center cruise while enroute. This gonna be a blast!
