Joe, the belts on my 78 L82 need replacing. Do I need to remove the fan (and whatever is attached immediately in front of the fan)? If so, is this difficult or just time consuming? The 68-82 shop manual, Haynes and Chilton books all say remove the belts and replace, but don't give a clue as to how to start and what to look out for. Thanks, Jerry

The key here is to take your time... you don't have to remove the fan but it would give you more room if you did. There is a couple of hidden adjustment bolts on the a/c and power steering. Rule of thumb, if it wont move, don't force it.
When installing the new belt on the powersteering DON"T pry against the resivour. If you damage it you are looking at a new pump. but other than that, putting belts on is not hard to do. Just take your time.

Joe, thank you. I'll keep a look out for the hidden adjustment bolts and I'll be careful when using a pry bar. take care, Jerry
