greetings, first time poster. a buddy of mine turned me on to the c1's and having looked at them, i think they're gorgeous. however, how are they as a driving car? looking at 56-60 years. just curious what the handling, suspension, brakes are like?

thanks, matt

Hey Matt, welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately (for me) I've never had the opportunity to drive one. I have known two guys that drive their cars a lot. One uses his for cruises and puts a lot of highway miles on it. The 2nd guy autocrosses his.

Once the suspension and components are renewed so that you are driving a 'new' car with 50 year old technology rather than a 50 year old car. They seem to drive pretty good. No power steering, no power brakes, etc.

I can't speek about a C1 (don't fit), but I drove a C2 as my only car from '99 to '01 and not having power brakes or steering don't really bother you after a while.

I use to own a 1962 Fuelie back in the 60's. Currently I own a 63 Coupe. They drive like trucks, and sound like trucks. Turning radius is very wide, and if you use the original tire Nylon-Bias, well its a chore keeping them straight. If you get a coupe they are very hot to drive down in the drives wells (where you feet go). In addition, they smell like gas and oil, the seats are basic, in other words they are primative. Nothing like them. I love em....you cannot begin to compare the C3 through C5 to these cares, they are rolling museums.

They take a lot of TLC, and as of last week, the prices for C1 and C2 have rised, as Pro Team bought most of Chip Miller's Collection and have boosted the prices, causing a rise across the board for C1 and C2s. Oh yeah, did I tell you the head turning factor is about the highest of all cars.

Now I ask you...is this what you want? [:D]
