Laurie,
I thought I saw something in the newsletter about setting up a dinner cruise. How would an excellent German dinner followed by some soft serve ice cream sound. Erica and I know a killer German place in Madison that will leave people savoring every bite, and the hospitality & service is unmatched. The prices range from $50 to $75 per couple, and plenty of parking can be arranged. It's a nice cruise also. Trust me when I say that it is worth every penny plus some!!![:)] [:)] [:)]

The dinner cruise I was talking about is an actual dinner on a cruise ship. Some members expressed an interest in doing that so I am working out the details.
Your idea, however, is also a good idea for a social event. If you can get together some details and organize it, I'm sure we would have many participants.
See you at the meeting tomorrow night. [:)] I'm off to bed...[I-)]

Sounds like a great idea. I haven't had any real German food since I was in Zweibrucken back in 1990.
(Now you've got my mouth watering for some schnitzel and a Parkbrau Pils)

As someone who recently went through Frankfurt...I'm dying for another authentic schnitzel. Now I just have to pray that my lovely work schedule allows me to take part in at least one event this year! [:((] Sorry...I just needed to vent but a cruise would be the answer to my [:((]

Has anybody else been to the Bavarian Inn in Shepardstown, WV? Good German food and a great cruise (on the roads) to boot....

Yep! Good eats! However I would have to give the nod to the Bavarian Chef in Madison as far as food goes[;)] . I would like to set up a dry run with 1 or 2 other couples to check the place out so that they can see for themselves how good this place is. If anyone is interested give me a hollar.

Considering we have seen the way you drive on the track I don't see a problem with it.[:)] [:)] However I'm the new kid on the block so I need the blessing of the geezers if you know what I mean.[;)] [;)] [:D] [:D] [B-)] [B-)] They may require that you use an extra coat of wax though. [:D]

On a cruise, we make/suggest the non-Corvettes run in the back. On the dinner boat cruise, I don't see any reason why you couldn't join!

Ouch!
[#-o] [#-o] [#-o] Maybe that extra coat of wax would be to slip stream through the air better to keep up with the vettes!!![:D] [:D] [:D]

We don't speed on our cruises. I've taken my Tahoe on cruises and can keep up with Vettes, but nobody wants to sit behind that huge vehicle on a cruise. Similarly, when ever a non-Vette gets in a line of Vettes, it just messes up the whole ball of wax![:D] [B-)] [:)]

Woa! Never even hinted about speeding. Wouldn't do that. It was an inside Chevy-Ford thing[:D] [;)] OK now, it seems that we have enough intrest in this so I will get in touch with "Little Red" and see if we can come up with a date, and work out the details. Don't want it to interfear with any other ongoings. Other options with this is stopping for ice cream, and/or rolling a caravan into the weekly car show in Manassas afterwards. Give me some good ideas and I will put them together. If there is a preference for dates let me know that also. Oh, and by the way Jenny. Looks like the answer is YESSSSSSS!!![:)] [:)] [:)] Some how or another it keeps coming back to that wax thing though?[:-/] [:-/]

I will e-mail you the list of dates that aren't taken up by other events...most likely tomorrow (Friday) 6/25. [:)]

Cool!!![:)] I was just looking through all the dates, and calenders and saw 4 openings in August. The 1st,14th,21st, and 22nd. Those dates don't colide with any of the races, shows, or anything else. The 21st or 22nd would give me enough time to set everything up.[;)] Let me know what you think.

Any of those dates are fine EXCEPT August 1st. Jim Anderson and the rest of the council are currently working on plans for the club BBQ/picnic on that date.
Let me know which date is chosen as well as all of the details as soon as possible and I will post them to the event calendar.

You got it. Why don't we do the 21st, and I will start on all the details tomarrow. That will give everyone a month to think about it so that we can have a good number of how many people want to go so that I can make the necessary reservations by July 24th. I will contact the owner of the restraunt and let him know in advance. Oh, by the way, thanks for letting a newbie do this.

No problem. We need people who step up and get involved. The Social Director can't plan it all, and I am swimming with event plans as it is, not to mention the website stuff. Thank you for taking the initiative! [:D]

Laurie,
Did you get that e-mail that I sent you on Friday? I didn't here back from you. If you did and everything looks ok to you, and you want to post it on the events page I will move this post over to the cruisings and gatherings page to get the word out. The one thing I forgot is the meeting time and place. It looks to be about 2pm to gather so we can be there at 4:30. The gathering spot looks to be at the parking lot at Border's book store in Manassas on 234 near the battlefield. Will be timing everything out this weekend.[:)] [;)] [B-)]
