Wow, Mike, you're a little excited. [:))]

Yeah [:">] well Spook is a blast and I always look forward to it.

Last year my car was down and I didn't get to run.

I also talked to one of our past members Mike Lindsey in Flordia today on the CorvetteForum. He is planning on coming up to attend this year. He's the guy that really got me into autocrossing and the NVCC so you can kind of call it 'old home week'.

I received the first registration yesterday!!!! The honor goes to Bob Compton.

I'll be sending letters/email this weekend to the out of Region folks that have participated in the past. The East Region folks and our club members got their notification, so we are well on the way to Spook 2004.

The event is open to all cars on a first come-first serve basis. Cars that meet our tech inspection and driver quailifications (Mustang club, Miata club and Healy club) need to get in touch with me for the details.

I Want in!

What qualifications do I need for this since its a 'high speed' event.

You must have a NCCC high speed license.

To get the license you must be able to prove to Andrej's (NCCC's actually) satisfaction that you have attended 10 low speed autocrosses in the past 18 months OR have attended one track event school such as BSR's at Summit (Friday At The Track) FATT or NASA event.

For the 10 events, you hae already completed two of them. There are 9 more events between now and September.
http://www.nvcorvetteclub.com/nvcc/autox/index.jsp

If you attended at least 8 of them, Andrej should still have time to get your license before Spook.

If you haven't already attended a track event school, all of the BSR FATTs are full before then for the Novice run group. To participate at a NASA event, you have to join NASA http://www.nasaracing.net/ The Virginia group has an event at VIR and the Ohio-Indiana group have a couple of events prior to then.

Talk to me tonight at the general business meeting if you are interested in finding out more info.

Well although I'm super jealous of those already qualified for this adventure...I don't see myself having the opportunity to get in for this years. However, I would love to attend/volunteer so is someone taking names for spots to assist?

The entire weekend is a big social event for the club Michael. It starts Friday afternoon / evening when the first of us descend on Charles Town, WV.

We set up the hospitality suite and registration area. Later we start Tech Inspection on the vehiciles coming in. As people start coming in from other areas / clubs, it is like "old home week".

The volunteer workers are what make this weekend as sucess and we would love to have you. Andrej Balanc is taking names of people now. You can email him at urtoslo@yahoo.com

Michael,

Consider your name in the hat for helping out.

Spooktacular is a big volunteer effort for the club. We need workers to man the corners, to run the paddock, to be a the starter, as well as needing help in tech, timing, scoring, registration and "party coordinator". If you have a specialty or preference you are more than welcome to pick a position but your offer of help is definitely appreciated and needed.

Thanks.

Andrej

The entry form for Spooktakular includes the question as to if you are entering as a driver or worker. If worker, the fee is obviously $ 0.00 !!! [:D] If those who would like to volunteer let Andrej and I know early we can start building a work force.
Woodsy doing Tech this year ????????? please, please please !!!

Andrej,
My better half (Erica, AKA wife) has offered to put her name in the hat for helping out also. Is she allowed first of all, and if so should I just add her name on the same form that I'm sending to you or do I need to fill out a seperate form?

All right Brian, I was hoping you would be able to make it down. I missed you at the BelAir and LCCC autocrosses.

Zoel, Wanda and Andrej have been twisting my arm again.
[:D]

Competition question... I can upgrade brakes in class without having to go to IIIRP.

I can put 1988 J55 calipers and rotors on my 86 for group II and IIIME.

Since there is no IIIMG (1992-1996) I am assuming that I should be able to use the calipers and rotors from the CEs and GSs as well and still stay in IIIME, yes or no?

George,

If both of you are going to join the club, the form provides me your NCCC numbers without having to look them up. This helps tremendously when I am doing the paper work to close out (nine events with 80+ numbers per form for competitors and workers). If she is going to help out - definitely allowed BTW, like my kids and wife have, without joining, then just pencil in on your form that she is going to help.

Erica, thanks for the support!

MIKE I thought I would answer on here for all to see...FIrst off, if the J55 rotors are larger than the 86's, you cannot use them and remain in group II. It specifically states STOCK SIZE in this group-meaning stock for that year; however group III allows LARGER rotors. This would include the CE & GS rotors as you said, since IIIME is 84-96.
What gets confusing [:-/] is, when a car in G for example uses the GS 11" rims. THis is update/backdating. BUT IT says ANY wheel 16" or greater... so its covered. Your question is specific when it says STOCK size..
SO It looks as if you would be with me in Group III- not RP... and along with that comes the fire suit and roll bar for high speed events..

NOW Woodsy neeeds to bone up on his rotors for tech.....to avoid this at the track... haha! (HI MIKE) [:D]

AS for the arm twisting, lol....just twist em back! Lets chip in for a roll bar for Zoel this year so he can twist us!

I'll bone up for Tech. The competitors tell on each other anyway. "Hey he's the wrong ??. We get one or two of these every year at Spook. Normally, Brian and talk about it and fix it. I think last year I sent a guy home to switch his crossed drilled rotors. It was a 1E car with cool lookin rotors. I told him he can put a roll bar in or change rotors

We are working on that also. Ralph Watts and I told Wanda that we would let her drive our cars (and even pay for her event). She agreed as long as Ralph makes the next twin event NCCC low-speed in the area.

We figure if we can get her out there we'll have her hooked.
[>:)]

The only problem is that I forgot about her needing to have a firesuit to drive my IIIME car. [:((]

I remember it well [:D]

Still waiting on the 383 rebuild from hell to be put back together. My mechanic washed down the rings on the new pistons... this caused problems with the cylinder walls, and the pistons and some material got down into the rod bearings.

John is replacing the pistons, rings and rod bearings, and paying for the block to be honed out another .010" to 4.040. I also had to have the crank smoothed over where the rod bearings were.

I'm hoping to get the pistons on the 15th of this month (special order) and John will be coming back from Houston to finish the job. I have not driven the car since Andrej was down in January. Suffice it to say I'm going a little stir crazy.

Mike
