View Full Version : A Good Body Shop?

No matter how conscientious we may be, inevitably it happens...
Unfortunately, my '91 convertible was the victim of a parking ramp hit & run last week that did quite a number on the front/passenger clip. Needless to say I am very particular about the repair work. Can anyone recommend a first rate body shop with fine attention to detail?
Thanks!
On a more positive note, Beth and I had an absolutely wonderful time on the Ice Cream Cruise! Beautiful cars, good Corvette roads, scenic vistas and great company...thank you all for your newcomer hospitality and thank's for taking such great pictures George! It was a great first event and we look forward to seeing more of the club in the future!

Hey Lee,
Sorry to hear about your car. My 86 got smacked (hit and run) in a parking garage shortly after I bought it four years ago.
Jeff Kirk (Da Prez) just got his Z06 out of the body shop. Check out the thread http://www.nvcorvetteclub.com/mvnforum/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=436
He had it done by a shop in Manassas. He's bringing it to the general business meeting tomorrow night at Koon's Chevrolet. If you make the meeting you can check it out and he can fill you in on the details.

Wow..sorry to hear about your baby. Mine was pretty beat up...work had to be done on the nose and both rear quarter panels....I'm blown away by the nose to be honest....the quarter panels I wasn't really used to seeing destroyed..but they look good..just...amazed at the nose.
Come tomorrow night and see for yourself.
Jeff

Thank's for the tips! I'm not a member yet, but perhaps tomorrow's general business meeting would be a good chance to get other suggestions and check out the work on Jeff's Z06. Would that be alright? The only suggestion I had received earlier was for Criswell Automotive (Corvette/Hummer) in Gaithersburg.

That would be fine! It was nice cruising with you two out on the Tri-State Cruise.
I think you will find that you will meet a lot of great people and get TONS of terrific advice on your 'vette. I know I have...[:D]
I'll try to remember to bring a membership app in case you are interested in joining. Since you have attended the Ice Cream Cruise, the GBM is the only other event you need to attend in order to be put up for a vote...as well as the application fee, of course. [:p]

Actually...the clock doesnt start ticking with regards to membership fullfillment until AFTER the application has been submitted. this just keeps things easier in Judy's mind, as well as keeps someone from saying "Well, remember 6 years ago when I went on a cruise with y'all..."

Has anyone heard anything about Wagon Works Collision in Crystal City (Clifford Rd. just off of a Glebe and Jefferson Davis Hwy)?
I am working later than expected this evening and unfortunately likely will not make this evening's meeting. I appreciate all of the suggestions thus far! Thanks!

Absolutely. I haven't heard of anyone taking a corvette there but everything else. When it comes to auto body repair they are without a doubt one of the best if not the best in the area. They are a little more expensive (sometimes a lot more) than any place else but their work is good.
They do BMWs, Jags, Porsches, Mercedes, you name it. I haven't heard how they are with Corvettes though. The SMP of the C4s requires special knowledge. If they have a body man that is familar with Corvettes I wouldn't have any reservations about taking my car there.

Thank's Mike!
I am seriously considering Wagon Works. Though not specifically about Corvettes, I have heard superb things about their work and there are just a few blocks from where I work. Though their main focus seems to be foreign exotics, they specifically list Corvette (only domestic on the list) as a specialization.
Based on Jeff's experience, it sounds like I should check out East Coast Refinishing and Fiber in Manassas too.
Thank you all for the tips!
