First, you need a picture in electronic format. The usual formats include .jpg, .bmp, .gif, etc. You can get one by taking a picture with a digital camera or getting a photo CD made of your film pictures.

Next, you need a graphic viewer / editor. I use Irfanview, which is freeware (in other words FREE) and is a very robust viewer with editing capabilities. It can be downloaded at http://www.irfanview.com/

If you use this program then follow these steps to resize your image.

1 - Click on file then open. Use the dialog box to find the directory and then double click on the file.

2 - Click on Image then Resize/Resample. The size of your picture cannot exceed the width or height of 150 pixels (tech term don't worry about it). Leave the default settings as they are and look at the width and height of your file. Change whichever one is larger to 150 and click OK.

3- Click on file then save as. The file has to be a Jpg, Gif, Png format and the maximum file size is 60,000 bytes with a width and height not greater than 150 pixels. Change the file type if necessary. Also, rename the file to "avatar" or something so you don't overwrite your original.

4 - Log onto the NVCC forum and click on My Profile then on Change my Avatar. Scroll down to option 2 "Upload your avatar here" and click on browse. Use the dialog box to find the directory and file you wish to use as your avatar. Double click on the file and click the "upload avatar" button.

That's it. Your avatar has been changed.

Keep in mind that the same rules of posting apply to your avatar. If you change it to something objectionable your account will be disabled since we do not have the ability to change it for you.

Thanks
Paul
