Well, many members and non members asked me for an update on the restro as I have not written much about it in a long time, actually I have been very busy...so...
Took some time to visit the 63 today, as my last update stated the body was put back on. I had to find a new door for the drivers side, as the door that was on the car was in very poor condition. So we now have fitted the new door on the car, and after some minor rivet repairs on the door, it fits much better then the old one. We still have some alignment to do, but it looks much better. If you notice the picture below the door is black. This is the color of the factory glass from late 63. The photo of the drivers rear quarter panels show the differences in glass. The Back of the car is all original its an off white or tannish color glass, this is early to mid 63. The door is late 63 and is black or dark grey. The new rear quarter panel is a high quality new panel...notice the cement is almost black, that is the same cement used in 63 it will dry a dark grey.
The photos show you the slow progress that is being made. We are in the area of alignment of the panels, and replacing older panels. Already have replaced the rear quarter panels both drivers and passenger side.
Door is 85% aligned, will now do the nose next, it lacks the fiberglass strut support, and will redo all the rivets below. Next will fit the headlight buckets, then replace the front quarter panels. Then do the hood and door alignments and get prepped for paint. Oh yeah replacing the passenger's parking light panel up front and putting in the front fender support too.
Its a long process, but my goal is to no hurry do it right, and make sure EVERYTHING FITS per factory specifications. Don't know if this will ever make it to NCRS, but I know the car will be correct, as I am using their own judging books to make double sure we are correct...along with factory publicatons.
I will keep everyone updated here are some photos taken TODAY....

Shows side view of Driver's side rear quarter panel...noticed the detail was much crisper then the patch job that was done.

Passenger side, notice the cement is dark, this is the same used at the factory in 63...it dries a shade or two lighter. Of course sanding and clean up still has to be performed.

And as I said goodby...it sadly sits waiting patiently for a new coat and new shinny hardware....soon it will be ready...soon..
