Hi Joe,
Welcome!
How about some 2002 S10 help? It's got a G80 locking rear that no longer locks. I can get the cover off, probably take out the spider gears and the axles. How much harder is it to get to lock again, ie what do I need to do to get it to lock? Oh yeah, it's at 45k miles, way out of warranty.
Thanks in advance,
Andrej Balanc

Andrej,
More than likely the posi plates have either worn out(not likely because of mileage) or a retainer broke. Either way I really can't say for shure with out pulling the cover and taking a good look.
Be honest with you it probably won't be cheap to fix. Can you bring it on shop night?

I can't get to shop night until around 9pm, my daughter has a concert at school that evening. If I hear you guys are going to be running that late, I'll come by.
Hey, I have a couple of other questions...
My Vette's accessory bracket holder, the aluminum thing on the front driver's side of the engine, I've stripped two threaded holes that hold the power steering pump to the bracket. The holes stripped are the two long bolts on both ends of the pump. Are those treads repairable (helicoil, etc) or do I need a new bracket?
My Tahoe's antilock system is still out. A dealer says it is the right front sensor, but I've replaced it and it still wiggs out (comes on at less than 5mph and it ain't slippery out). Is there anthing else to replace but the wired sensor? I can get a new sensor for about $100, they want $450 to fix it...
Many thanks for your information.

If it were my car I would go the helicoil route first. What do you have to loose. Now the Tahoe. More than likely you have a cracked reluctor on the end of the front axle shaft or a worn/broken tooth on the reluctor. The reason it only occures at low speed is that at higher speeds the abs system reads sensor inputs on a average. but at lower speeds it is moving(below 25-30 mph or so) slow enough to see a imperfection. You may have to pull the rotor off to get a good look.
