Could someone please let us know where the Tire Rack link is so that we can place an order. It used to be on the Home Page. Where did it go? Checked the links section and couldn't find it there either. Do we still have an arrangement with Tire Rack?

Wanda,

NVCC home page, where the Tire Rack Banner is. Hit the "Go" button and it will take you to the Tire Rack site. It isn't obvious since there isn't a 'mouse over' event on the button.

See if that helps.

You can also select the car make and year before hitting the Go button.

Thanks guys, I think I'm loosing it! I could have swore that last night the "very obvious" Tire Rack banner was not right in the middle of the home page. Maybe it was too late at night and I shouldn't have been online anyways.

Brad,

Mike makes a good point here...can we change that?

OK guys, I'm not loosing it! I have now signed on from home (earlier today I was at work when I found the Tire Rack link). When I log on from home the Tire Rack link is not on the home page. What do I do now? Any ideas as to what is wrong with my home PC that would cause this difference?

The banner came from TireRack directly. The "Go" button is a normal html form button that is common to almost any form you will see on the web. Each browser can treat this input widget at it sees fit.

However, I could try changing it a to an submit image, which (depending on your browser) would display the "clickable" cursor. But I don't know how that could affect the information submittal to tire rack.

Are you running Windoze? What version of Internet Explorer do you have? If it's less than 6.0, upgrade to 6.0.

Oh, look at that.. the "Go" button does not work anyways..
I'll try again later, just to make sure a server isn't down at tire rack or something.

In the mean time, who set up the partnership with tirerack? Can we contact them an get an update banner maybe?

Andrej,

I thought I had the latest version 6.0, but maybe not. I'll check it out and if not I'll update it. We used to have the Tire Rack link, cause Zoel has ordered via the NVCC homepage before.

Thanks for your help.

Well the button is working again.

Brad, I can't see the code directly but can't we just slip an ALT = "Tire Rack" in there somewhere?

If it works, then thats great. Maybe I just can't access service.bfast.net at work (firewall or something).

I don't think the alt attribute is a problem, but I don't see how that will solve the "clickable" cursor problem.

We were finally able to get the Tire Rack banner on the NVCC homepage on our home PC. We disabled our firewall and were able to get access.

Thanks all for your help.

What kind of firewall where you using?

Some firewall, which also act as http proxies, can filter out information that it may consider ads or other things you don't want to see.

The Tire Rack banner (images and all) are linked from the tire rack site, which could be considered unwanted content by a firewall / proxy.

Brad,

We're using Norton, but for now have disabled it. Can you recommend another option for a firewall?

Norton I'm sure is a fine firewall. I'm not up on firewall software a) I don't need to worry about virii; b) I usually hand configure my routing tables for access to my box; c) I don't run any services I don't need.

Also, you should reenable your firewall software as soon as possible. It's not a good idea to leave a windows box open on the internet. Apparently, the Ad blocking is a new "feature" of the norton product. See the first point on the following link:
http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/npf/features.html
You should consult your documentation to figure out how to allow ads from specific sites.

Wanda,
What is your setup; cable, DSL? How many computers do you have? The price for cable/DSL routers have really gone down lately. Most of them have a good firewall setup built into them.

I've seen LinkSys routers as cheap as $20 after mail-in rebate.
