Come one, come all, to club member Richard Anderson's farm in wild, wonderful West Virginia for our Annual Club Picnic, on Sunday, July 19th, 2009 at noon. Bring your folding chairs, yard games, ATVs, canoes, fishing gear, leashed pets, and family and enjoy a yummy BBQ feast. Plenty of room to enjoy outdoor activities and park your Corvettes! While you're there, check out the 1890s era farm house restoration (air-conditioned if you need respite from the heat) and Richard's car collection.

Two events in one - club president Stewart Fox will be leading a group of Corvetters who want to take the scenic route out to the farm. Staging point will be the Sterling commuter lot located just off Route 606 and the Greenway, at the intersection of Moran Road and Lockridge Road with a 9 AM arrival, 9:15 AM driver's meeting, and 9:30 AM departure time.

Picnic Menu:

Hamburgers/Cheeseburgers
Hotdogs & Coneys
Johnsonville Brats w/Guiness
Marinated Chicken Breasts
Baked Beans w/Bacon
Old Fashioned Potato Salad
Chef Salad
Creamy Coleslaw
Penne with Tomato and Mozzarella
Vegetable Crudite & Dip
Luau Fruit Salad
Potato Chips & Dip, Pretzels, Cheese & Crackers
Apple & Key Lime Pies
Lemon-Raspberry Cake
Cheesecake
Chocolate and Vanilla Cupcakes
Chocolate Chip & Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Brownie Bites
Soft Drinks (Assorted Sodas, Iced Tea, Bottled Water)

Kindly RSVP to social@nvcorvetteclub.com and indicate how many in your party will be attending the club picnic ASAP, or post here.

If you will be joining the NVCC cruise out to the farm, please send an email to president@nvcorvetteclub.com ASAP.

This event is open to NVCC members, their families, and those who have applied for NVCC membership.

FARM ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: 281 Ganotown East Road, Hedgesville, WV 25427, farm phone 304-229-0010.

I-81 to Exit 5 Inwood WV, LEFT onto Route 51 thru Gerrardsown to LEFT onto Route 45, to RIGHT on Back Creek Valley Road at Glengary, RIGHT onto Ganotown East to 281 Ganotown East Road (blacktop drive on left, flanked by gargoyles).

HELP REQUEST: I will be needing volunteers to bring and/or help with the following:

Coolers & Ice: I need at least 8 coolers with ice brought to the picnic. Will need these at the picnic location at 11:30 AM sharp.

Grilling Help: I need 6-8 grillers to pitch in to grill the food for the picnic. To make it easier on everyone, I'd like a group of people to share the duties (for example, each person grill for a half hour block of time and then a "relief" person takes over at the end of a "shift"). I will need at least 2 grillers at the picnic location at 11:30 AM to help get a batch of food cooked before other relief grillers arrive. We will have 2-3 grills going at once to make it go faster.

Picnic Tunes: Unfortunately our resident DJ expert is unable to attend, so I will need someone to volunteer their talents and/or equipment to provide music at the picnic. Richard has several outdoor electrical hookups if needed.

If anyone can help with any of the above, kindly email me at social@nvcorvetteclub.com ASAP, or post here. Please make absolutely sure you can help before committing; last minute cancellations on help do hurt us!

Folks,

Just a reminder to please RSVP ASAP for this event - it helps greatly for planning purposes! Also, have only had 2 people volunteer to help grill and NO volunteers yet for help with coolers/ice or music (see below for details). If you can help, kindly let me know.

Thanks,
Laurie

We're good on grilling help at this time, but still need more coolers with ice and music for the picnic! Please help if you can. :smile2:

Please RSVP ASAP - we've got great food (as many of you can attest to from past picnics) and the long range weather forecast says 84 and sun...perfect picnic weather!

Laurie, Janet and I can make it this Sunday. We can bring two coolers with ice if still needed. Please let me know what you guys could still use. My vette is in the shop so we'll be driving our Mustang GT. Looking forward to seeing the gang and having a great time. Mike

Hey all,

I just wanted to thank everyone who came to the club picnic today. A great time was had by all in attendance and the weather was spot-on!

There are some very important people I wish to thank for their assistance with this event...

-Cheryl and Richard Anderson, for their most gracious hospitality in opening up their home to us. What a beautiful location for a picnic! Everyone enjoyed strolling the grounds and touring the farmhouse. Thank you both for putting up with us for an entire day!

-Anthony Lucido, NVMC member who donated the use of his minivan and helped me pick up and deliver the food and supplies for this event. Here is someone who isn't even a member of our club who spent his entire weekend helping us out. Bravo!

-Stewart Fox, for leading a caravan of club members with him to the picnic. Hope you all enjoyed the scenic drive planned by our president!

-Don Ellenberger, for bringing those wonderful heirloom tomatoes for us to enjoy with our meal. Delicious!

-The Lelanskys, for bringing their boombox so that we could have some tunes in the background to add to the picnic atmosphere.

-All of my grillers who cooked all the food perfectly....and quickly! Burgers, dogs, coneys, brats, and chicken were on the table in short order. Fabulous job, everyone!

-Everyone who brought coolers and ice, very helpful for keeping all of the drinks and picnic meat cold. Can't have a picnic without them.

-Everyone who helped clean up, break down and load tables, etc...so that we could return Cheryl and Richard's house as we found it. Very much appreciated!

For those of you who did not make it, you missed out on some wonderful food and Corvette fellowship. See you at the next one!

Hope you all enjoyed. Heading to bed now!

Cheers,
Laurie
