Hi.
The rear tires on my '87 vette won't pass VA inspection and I am going to replace all four. I currently have Goodyear Eagles.
Any thoughts on replacing them with BFG or Michelins?
Also, any recommendations on where to get them replaced?
Thanks.

Are you a member of Costco? They can get the Michelins you want and probably the BFG's too. They have great prices for mounting, so if you can't get the tire you want from them, buy them from Tire Rack and get Costco to mount them for you.

Personally, when my tires go, I plan on ordering them from Tire Rack, drop-shipping them to Joe Malo, and having him mount them. I'm not too keen on Costco mounting them, just my 2 cents.

Not knowing what the front tires are like, if you can afford it, I would recommend all four Michelins Pilots. Second choice would be the Firestone Firehawks.
When I had my 96 LT4 I went to the Firehawk tire and swear by them, I love the looks, but one feature that stands out is the rib around the tire that protects the wheel from curb damage. They have an excellent compound and will outlast Goodyear.
But the Michelins have come a long way during the past several years to the point they now are the tire used by Chevrolet for the C5Rs. One feature that stands out about the Michelins are the four season use. The tread will last longer as the rubber compound is not as sticky as the Firestone or Goodyear GSC's.
So you have decide, based on the use of the car, what tires are the best. If you decide to go with the Tire Rack, the best place to have them mounted is the Tire Shop in Leesburg. First they use a European Tire Mounting Machine, this makes sure your wheel reamains safe. Second, they have one of the best Hight Speed balancing machines used in Northern Virginia. Same Machine used in the pit area by tire mounters (Goodyear,Firestone etc.)
The Tire Store has good prices and a good staff, I think you will be pleased.
Buying tires is subjective to the type of driving you do, and the look you want.
My personal choice, the Firestone High performance line for the C4, my C5 I will go with Michelins[:)>-]

Thanks for all the great advice. I have decided to go with the Michelin Pilots and I am replacing all four tires. Expensive, but it needed to be done! On one of my initial runs with my new car in the rain, it was scary when the car decided to slide around - can any one say newbie!!! [:)]
Thanks again.
