As my ever faithful 2001 4x4 Suburban approaches the 100k mile mark, I am constantly fretting about the stopping ability. I have changed pads/rotors (in combination) religiously but stopping power is still not good. Now that I'm hauling my Z06 - the brake system is being challengedeven more.

I've considered steel brake lines an larger rotors but have not invested in anything yet.

Brembo offers the "Tourismo Brake Kit (http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/61A2863A0A0.aspx)" for $1340. :feedback:

Can anyone offer their suggestions/rants/raves on whether or not this is worth the money?

Before you go modifying the brakes on the tow vehicle - take a long hard look at the trailer brakes. Braking ability of your trailer is at least as if not more important than the tow rigs brakes. I assume / hope that you got double axle electric brakes on the trailer. The adjustment of the electric brake controller in your suburban is very important to proper stopping ability of the combined rig. Almost all controllers have adjustable settings depending on how hard the truck pedal is pressed. You might have to play with it a little to get it set correctly. Start by cranking the level of braking ( voltage) up on the controller and tow with a loaded trailer as you would going to the track. If set too high the trailer brakes will lock up on a hard stop. Back off the setting a little at a time till you can stop hard without the trailer wheels locking up. Its like threshold braking on the track - you want maximum braking on the trailer without lockup. Get the trailer brakes set correctly before you modify the trucks brakes.

Thanks again CJ. The brake controller works great. I only have trailer brakes on the front [2] wheels - but it still functions very well. I am more concerned about the trucks braking abilities outside of the towing responsibility.
I may just go to steel brake lines and progress from there.....
