We have received a request from Jubilee Christian Center to bring some cars to display at their Father/Son Event on Saturday, February 28, 2009. The event runs from 9 AM to 2 PM. We need to be there about 8 AM to set up.

The church is located at 4650 Shirley Gate Road in Fairfax, Virginia, between US Route 29 (Lee Highway) and Braddock Road, just west of George Mason University.

They will be serving breakfast and lunch for the event. They are putting together a packet so that we would receive our meals FREE. They still would like us to register, there just won't be a charge.

All cars will be in a sectioned off part of the church lot, safely removed from activity. There will be a lot of workshops and such going on in the church itself. The purpose of the day is to get fathers and sons together for some fun quality time and to expose the kids to different skills and hobbies.

This will be a great opportunity to get the club out into the community and show the public who we are and what we do. If you can come, even if just for a few hours, kindly email me at lilredcorvette94@yahoo.com or social@nvcorvetteclub.com and let me know NLT 2/21/09.

All,

I have received a couple emails today regarding weather for this event. So far the forecast for tomorrow is:

Tomorrow: A mix of clouds and sun in the morning giving way to a few showers during the afternoon. High 46F. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

Given the above forecast I still plan to be there, unless there is rain when I get up in the morning. The event is mostly a morning one so we should be fine for most of it, and we can bail early if skies are threatening. The coordinator knows that our appearance is weather-dependent. That being said, if it isn't raining in the morning, our appearance is on. If it is, they know we won't be showing up.

Thanks,
Laurie

Thanks to the club members who braved the cold to attend this event. Everyone enjoyed seeing the cars. Miriam's driving presentation was great!
