I have received the Spooktacular Registration Form from Jim Beaupre and Andrej Balanc. It is attached to this post. For a direct link to the pdf, click here (http://www.nvcorvetteclub.com/media/Spook.Registration%202008.pdf). The event schedule is also posted on the Spooktacular Page (http://www.nvcorvetteclub.com/spook.html).

I'm sure the co-chairs will chime in with more information, but for those who don't know what Spooktacular is, click here (http://www.nvcorvetteclub.com/faq.html#spook2) to find out. But, in a nutshell:

*14 High Speed Autocross events (Saturday 10/18/08—7 events, Sunday 10/19/08—7 events) on the 1.1 mile, multi level, blind/late apex-laden, 7 turn Jefferson Circuit at famous Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia. :) This is a HIGH SPEED event, which means speeds 80 mph and up, and NO cones! You get a flying start to the start timer. We run the course clockwise on Saturday and counter-clockwise on Sunday. We generally get three cars on the track at the same time, however, you are separated by a 20 second interval and corner workers keep things in control.

*All roadsters (required in all Group III cars, regardless of model) MUST have roll bars.

*Fire extinguisher (min 5 BC) MUST be mounted securely in all cars.

*All entrants MUST be High Speed certified licensed by NCCC or have proof of a recent high speed drivers school completion. Those who just completed our 7/11/08 HPDE successfully will qualify.

*Fire suits are recommended for all groups and required for Group III entrants.

*Open to all vehicles; must be in compliance with NCCC tech and safety regulations. Tech inspection is at track Friday night 7:00pm to 10pm Oct. 18th and at track 7:00am to 5:00pm each day of event. The tech form is also attached to this post. For a direct link to the tech form pdf, click here (http://www.nvcorvetteclub.com/Forms/Tech%20Form.pdf).

*Track open at 7am.
*Drivers Meeting at 8:30am.
*Parade Laps at 8:45am.
*First car out at 9am.

*Fees: before 10/01/08—$25.00 ea., $ 280.00 for all 14, after 10/01/08—$30.00 each. No refunds after 10/01/2008 except in the case of vehicles barred from running for rules non-compliance. Please make checks payable to NVCC.

*This event does sell out so get your registration in early. Open to first 60 entries per autoX event.

*For questions, especially those about NCCC vehicle rules and eligibility, contact Event Chairperson Andrej Balanc at urtoslo@yahoo.com or 703-220-8228.

Dang it! I am in Monterey,Ca for that weekend working the ALMS race for Kumho. There is no way of getting out of that one. This is worse than someone lifting my wallet.

You all have fun and save me a T-shirt. Wasn't this event earlier last year, say the beginning of October?

Take care,

Yes, it was. However, East Region has a big Ocean City weekend that keeps changing it's date and this year it's the first weekend in October. Spook needs to keep a weekend in between the two to allow folks to attend both without having two long weekend events back-to-back...

See you at the track!

My NCCC High-Speed Certification expired on 7/1/08. Can I get this renewed before Spook?

Keep those registrations coming! We need a lot more drivers for this event!

We run clockwise on Saturday and counter-clockwise on Sunday! This is a timed event. To read up on the very first accurate clock, check out Longitude, by Sava Sobel.

If you don't have an NCCC high speed license, you need to get one before this event.

I've got a wonderful young lady to sing the National Anthem for us at Saturday's drivers meeting. Her voice alone is worth the price of admission! Nascar's got nothing on us here!

If we sell out the event (60 drivers), I'll be refunding a registration fee at each drivers meeting. That means two of you will be getting your money back! Send in your registrations now, keep this event chairman from going crazy waiting till the last minute for this event to break even!

Andrej -- How many sign ups do we have ?? Are we close to the magic number to make sure that the event runs. Your last post a couple of weeks ago showed only 13 sign ups ???

I will bring blank licenses to registration for those who have expired AND have qualified for renewal---- remember--- participating in a High Speed event (Or HPDE) is all you need do......however--- 10 low speed autocrosses per the book will NOT get it done... I think everyone would understand the difference of a parking lot 1st gear course and the SPOOK!

Whats our head count Andrej???? See you all next week... BRIAN

The price increase after Oct 1 for Spooktacular has been waived. We have plenty of spaces left, so the price increase did not encourage people to sign up early. If you want attend, it's $280 for all 14 events (or $25/autox if you can't stay both days).

We'll have to think of some other strategy for next year! Oh, BTW, Spooktacular 2009 (if we have it) will be on Oct 3/4.

Not to hijack the thread but if you need a set of great track wheels - see for sale section. Selling my SSR light weight forged aluminum wheels in Z06 sizes for $700. Installed a Wilwood Big Brake Kit and they no longer fit the car.

Andrej,
I am in for Spook baby! I was on my way to Laguna Seca (Monterey, CA) and got as far as the middle of NM and was told to turn around and come back home.

Turns out our team was not able to get the car finished in time so I did the BONZI run back, finished the motor and dynoed it yesterday and I think I am ready to go.:D

I will see you all Saturday morning for tech.
