Well, Rallye #1 has come and gone and what a great rallye it was! Rallye Master Alice Arielly put together a challenging and interesting course through the Mount Vernon/Woodlawn area. Rallye Checker Jack Hufnagle made sure the route was well outlined so everybody would find their way to the end point. We started out in the Mount Vernon parking lot and wound through the back streets of southern Alexandria. The route even included a stop at George Mason’s Gunston Hall before wrapping up at the Old Country Buffet on Route 1.
Both a gimmick and a poker hand were run. Gimmick rallye results are as follows:
1st place: Barbara Foor and Carolyn Offutt
2nd place: Nicole and Cassidy Nolen
3rd place: Don and Judy Patrick
4th place: Don Ellenberger and Rich Mars
The poker pot was split high/low with Barbara and Carolyn taking the high hand and Cassidy and myself taking the low (as usually happens when we play poker, we had a terrible hand). Chuck and Karen Pellerin also participated as cruisers in the event and played the poker hand as well.
Look for Alice’s article in the upcoming newsletter and I know Chuck took some great pictures that he plans to post to the website. If we had any complaints it was that only 5 cars showed up to take advantage of this great rallye!! Hopefully more of you are planning to come to Rallye #2, hosted by Chuck Pellerin, through the Great Falls, Virginia, area. Chuck has promised that the route is full of Corvette-friendly roads and free zones, so get ready to enjoy yourself. Rallye #2 is on June 22, so mark your calendars now. We will send out additional information as we get closer to the event.
