I met with Steve Britt (ODS Owner) and Hayne Dominick (ODS GM) today. We had about a 2-hour conversation and I have a lot to report.
1 - We will have our dates soon and should expect to get about the same number of dates as last year. It will be a mix of oval track and drag strip as well as a mix of Saturday and Sunday dates. The first date is expected to be April 11th.
2 - ODS has a new "Street Car Racing" series and has asked for the club's help it getting in launched. The series seeks to bring illegal street racing to the track and ODS is working with local authorities to get the word out. Steve has asked if would get a group of racers to come out to at least two events and participate in the action. I think his thought is that he can get a bigger draw if he can say, "Come out and see what you can do against a 'Vette." The series is held on Wednesday nights. I will be starting a separate thread on this asking for people to sign up to two dates.
3 - I offered the club assistance in the track renovations / clean up. I would like to have at least 5 or 6 people come with me to work at the track for a day. This shows our support of the track that we love. Hayne said they would be working at the track for the next three Saturdays before they open and that we can just show up and he'll put us to work. I will start another thread on this asking for volunteers.
4 - All American Iron is scheduled for July 25th with a rain date of August 8th. Rick Poage is chairing this event and will be looking for assistance from all of us in the future. Steve has already arranged for some special guests, which includes driver that will do the 1/8 th of a mile in about 5 seconds while holding a wheelie the entire length of the track.
5 - A couple of misc things. I mentioned our video idea to him and he sounds like he might want to get involved to some extent. He also might be interested in getting his logo on our trailer when we get one. Finally, he bought a 96 limited edition Camero and is going to bring it out to an autocross. [B-)]
It was a very productive meeting and I think we are off to a very good start this year. [:D]

Paul,
That all sounds great. Good job -- thank you.
I'll be able to help next weekend (watching kids this weekend).
I'm glad the guys at ODS are so Pro-NVCC. Maybe we can talk Steve into getting a new vette. [;)]

OK, I thought Mr. Hertel would have posted something by now, but I see he has not. Here is the TENTATIVE list of dates:
Saturday, Oval: Sept 11, Oct 16
Sunday, Oval: June 27, Oct 3, Oct 31
Saturday, Drag: May 8, 22, June 19, July 3, 17, 31,
August 14, 28, Sept 18, Oct 2.
Sunday, Drag: May 9, 16, June 13, July 4, 11,
August 15, Sept 19, 26
*DISCLOSURE STATEMENT* These dates are what we have JUST gotten, everything is still tentative, an effort is being made to get more on the oval, although the pits are paved and we might be able to work with that. Again, this is brand new information.
PAUL: Please jump in here and update if need be. Thanks.[:)]

The 8th and 9th are next weekend. We probably need to see if we can get some people together and test the equipment and make sure it is ready to go.
That might be a good weekend to do it. (Sort of a pre-season test).
That is a lot of dates (20). I'll be out of town the weekend of the 22nd, but that is also the rain date for the concours so that doesn't really matter.
I think that Spooktacular is the 9th and 10th of October, (Andrej jump in here) so no conflict there.
Anybody heard about what dates are for the American Iron shoot-out?
October 24th is the MWCSCC date that we signed up for. No conflict there.
Wanda, Zoel, Jim B, what are we looking at in relation to other NCCC events spreadout over the season?

Yes, Spook is Oct 9/10.
I can be at the autox next week, but it is may be in the Miata, if I can't get the Vette fixed between now and then.
Miata ok, Paul?
The next East Region autox is May 16, a double by Lancaster County Corvette Club. I promised a ride to a lady from the office, so I will be there.

It's SE of Harrisburg (Lititz, PA), about a 2.5 hour drive. I'll leave around 7:00am. Zoel ought to have his new tires, but I'll have my power steering fixed.

Well, I wanted to talk with Hayne before I released the dates but now that the cat's out of the bag I'll talk a little about my plan for this year. Thanks Laurie [:p]
Since this Sunday is Mothers Day let's shoot for the first date to be this Saturday, May 8th. It will be on the drag strip so I'm asking that Mike S. and a few others to get there early so we can setup the course. Do you all think 10:00am is early enough?
The next date will be Sunday, May 16th and will also be on the drag strip.
The last date for May CAN be Saturday; May 22nd IF Collin has enough people to help with Concours setup.
I don't want to talk about any other dates at this point unless they conflict with a know event. I need some more time to talk with Steve, Hayne, and others.
As it was last year, our autocrosses are not open to the public and are by invitation only with one exception that I will explain later. In order to participate you must meet one of the following conditions:
1 - Own a Corvette. You do not need to be a member of NVCC.
2 - Be a member of a "Friends of NVCC" club. Currently that includes the Northern VA Mustang Club, Washington Area Mazda Club, the F-Body club, and the Capitol Area Cobra Club. Other clubs can contact me about becoming a "Friends of NVCC" club.
3 - You may also participate if I invite you personally. Send me an e-mail if you are interested in running with the NVCC.
As usual, cars are subject to technical inspection prior to participating.
OK, now for the exception to these conditions. NVCC will pick one or two days this year and open the event up to anyone. These dates have not been determined but I will announce more later. My expectation is the events will be held on a Saturday and that one-day will be on the drag strip and the other on the oval.
For NVCC members this will be a points season and I will announce the points days later.
All American Iron is scheduled for July 25th with a rain date of August 8th.
Please post here if you are planning on coming this Saturday so I can get a head count.
Thanks and more to come.
Paul
Andrej, yes the Miata is OK but I think we need to add 50 lbs rewards weight to you. [:p] [;)]

I will be heading up for the Lancaster event on the 16th as well. My current plan is to go to Lancaster the night before and stay overnight for early arrival. I will establish an NVCC beachead with Donuts and coffee everyone's arrival!

Why not do the oval on Sunday even if it is Mother's Day? I know 2 years ago you guys did it that day because that was the first time I ever saw an autocross [:D]
Come on...moms should spend Mother's Day either cheering on dad, or out with the kids (unless your ex somehow got visitation on Mother's Day, like mine did)
