A question for the racers and autocrossers:
Would you buy used rotors as back ups?[:-?]
A fellow has a set of 4 for the C5 with ~20k miles on them, selling for $50.
Is this cheap insurance, or a waste of $?
It would be hard to judge their condition over the net, so I would be going on faith.
Thanks for the input.

Dave the link I have for prices on the C5 rotors is at the office but it would depend on what you can get new rotors for. If the rotors haven't been tracked (heat / stress fractures) and not gouged then $50 for all four rotors is definitely good insurance.
I carry an extra set of rotors with me to all track events. To me it just makes sense. I've seen Rick have to swap out a rotor at Summit. Another time he had to change a set of pads on the way home one evening. When I was running the stock 12" rotors on the '86 I went through two brand new sets of pads in one weekend. Needless to say, I also carry an extra set of pads.

Dave,
I checked the prices for the rotors and OEM rotors are about $55 a piece. Given that, if they are in half way decent shape I would do it if I was you.
I would also change out the OEM pads to new street/track combination pads and save the original pads as backups. You probably won't ever need them, but it is nice to know you have them just in case.

I agree with Mike, for $50, it's pretty cheap insurance.
Hey, why don't we have one of those Iagreewithhim (up arrow) smilies?

Thanks guys. If they're still available, I'll probably get them.
