Town of Leesburg’s “Independence Day Celebration” — 4th of July Parade

The Old Dominion Corvette Club (ODCC) is assembling a group to drive in the Leesburg Fourth of July Celebration and Parade. ODCC would like to welcome everyone from NVCC to join the parade. The parade route is short, it kicks off at Ida Lee Park on King Street and travels south on King Street through historic Leesburg, ending at the intersection of Fairfax and South King Streets. The parade field at Ida Lee Park opens at 0800, allowing groups to gather, register, and lineup. The parade begins 1000 and lasts approximately an hour and a half. For those interested, there is an “Honoring America” program on the Courthouse lawn at conclusion of Parade; although, our group will probably continue the cruise somewhere for lunch.

Legal stipulations:
• All entries must be decorated in a patriotic theme (in the past they have been lenient on this for our vehicles, but all are welcome to go overboard if they choose)
• No fireworks, candy and/or handouts allowed. This may cause you to be pulled from the parade
• Any person operating a motorized vehicle must be at least 18 years old, have a valid drivers license and obey all traffic signs

Robert you are on the list -- this brings us to about 15 cars.

Point of clarification: decorations for our vehicles are not “required”, but are "encouraged". I interpret this as do a lot, a little, or nothing at all. It's up to the driver. After all, isn't Independence Day all about baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet!

7:30 meet at Red, Hot & Blue in Leesburg
7:45 depart promptly to Ida Lee Park
8:00 am parade field opens
9:00 parade line-up
10:00 parade begins
11:00 parade ends
11:30 "Honoring America" program on the Courthouse Lawn for those interested —

Anyone interested is also welcome to come by my house after the parade for burgers, dogs, and tasty beverage. Directions will be available at the parade line-up.
