Concours 2007 is now a memory. Although the weather wasn't what we hoped for, we still had around 41 cars and the rain didn't dampen the spirit of the event.
The awesome tech and classification team and parking staff was able to get everyone through the process quickly and indoors before much of the rain happened. This year the registration and tabulation process was revamped and was the smoothest it has ever run. The judges did a flawless job judging cars quickly and efficiently. Workers manned the prize tables and scurried around helping me with things that needed to get done.
The one really good thing about a smaller show is that everyone usually goes home with something. Whether it was one of the awesome door prizes or raffles we got this year, or a trophy, participants received some token from Concours 2007. This wouldn't be possible without the help of club members knocking on businesses' doors for those prizes and the generosity of those companies who so willingly donated to the effort.
For the third year in a row, Koons extended their hospitality to us in hosting the show at their facility. I cannot thank enough our primary sponsor, Koons, for their generous support. Carl Leckner, GM of Koons, has announced that for every Corvette sold on the day of Concours, $250 will be donated to Special Olympics. Without a doubt, I am blown away by Koons' generosity and help with this show, and will be eternally grateful to Carl for all that he has done for our club.
One of the best moments for me was awarding the Best In Show trophy to a car that had a perfect judging score of 100 points...for the second year in a row, to the same entrant. A judge came up to me and said he could not find anything wrong with this car, and he tried his hardest! A big thank you to G-burg Vettes who attended this show in strong numbers, along with many other area clubs.
Without such enthusiastic participants and workers, this show simply doesn't exist. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in this show for such a wonderful job.
Take care,
Laurie Kistner
