I'm sitting here at 7:30 in the morning still completely worn out from all the excitement from yesterday! I want to take a couple of minutes to jot a few of my thoughts down to all of you.
From the bottom of my heart I want to thank each and eveyone of you that came out yesterday to either instruct or help out! This is the type of club event that when everyone comes together for such a good cause that it makes me both proud and humble to the President of this club! I also want to thank all the sponsors that came out also! Not only did they donate to a great cause, but they too were out there helping out and chasing cones!
So Howard Snook of Long and Foster, Koons Chevrolet, Roadblock Protective Systems Inc., Tire Van, Curry's Automotive, Securitas, and Joe and Cecelia Holzer with Exxon/Mobile, and the Virginia ABC commission thank you for all your support and help!!!
If this program for no other reason saves one life down the road it will make it all worth while! I think everyone involved walked away with a good feeling knowing that we served our community and help protect our youth.
As soon as I find out from New York I will pass the information along about when our school will air on Inside Edition! So, for everyone of you that has worked so hard with us on this program it's starting to show with all the publictiy the club is getting.
Also, looking at all the class reviews that we got back I am seeing how much the parents and students enjoy themselves at the school! I will be sharing some of their comments in the future.
Everyone,
Thanks again
George

George, I just want to say you and Miriam are the salt of the earth for putting on this event. As in any charitable endevor the winners are the people giving, not the receivers. I wouldn't trade the smiles of the kids or the parents for anything. Their comments and enthusiasm that someone was teaching them something that no one else would do was truly humbling.
Again thanks everyone for helping, showing up and providing kids some knowledge that we sometimes have had to learn the hard way.
NVCC YOU ARE FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [:D]

Hey guys! I know that we, Securitas Security Services USA, were thrilled to help out. What better asset do we have as a community than our children? Our focus is on protecting America and what better way to do that than protecting it's future, our children. ------- Okay, now that we've got that stuff out of the way.... [:)]
I was asked to write an article about the Teen Driving School so throughout the day I spoke to parents, students, instructors and volunteers about their experiences. I only hope that I can now remember it all in writing the article.
I'd like to send out a request to all who participated. If you would be so kind to assist me with writing this article, send me your personal experiences / thoughts / feelings about the event. Tell me what happened that day that really touched you or really made it worth being there. I spent a majority of time dealing out coffee, donuts, water, identification kits and running around the courses helping out as much as I could. So, I didn't get to experience the class and a lot of the other events that were going on. I'd like for this article to be as comprehensive as possible so I am asking you for your help in sharing your experiences with me.
Please email me directly at asheikh74@hotmail.com with any thoughts, ideas, experiences or just anything that you think is relevant. The more info the better and the sooner you can send them the better. We'd like to have the article written before the next newsletter is due out. Thanks everybody!
P.S. Yes, my feet still hurt from Saturday.... [:)] I don't know why I even bothered to bring those chairs..... [:p] Thanks again everybody and have a fantastic week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, besides all of the smiles... here is the one thing that really sticks out in my mind.
I had been walking up and down the grid of cars getting ready to go out on the skid pad for their first run. I was trying to check the seating/hand position, etc. of the students.
There was this one young girl that kind of stood out because she was so serious about getting her position correct. A little later I notice she is now at the head of the line and waiting her turn. The look on her face is unbelievable and she is almost hyperventilating she's breathing so fast and shallow. I talked to her for awhile, "breath deep, nice slow deep breaths". I couldn't help the smile that came to my face. If she didn't relax at least her breathing improved.
The car on the skid pad was off and Woodsie (Mike Woods) asked her if she was ready. A weak tentative 'yes' was barely descernable. Woodsie asked her two or three more times if she was ready... each time her voice became louder and the "yes' became firmer. Finally he sent her off for her first run.
Her first run was tenative and apprehensive but you could see her gaining confidence throughout. Halfway through her second run she was pushing the car, getting it to step out and bringing it under control.
She was beaming with confidence and the biggest smile as she came off after her second run.

HEY ALL--- a report back from the National Meeting in ST LOUIS: I brought up the school at the round table discussion. I have a reminder to all that this was the same school that George came out last year to speak to them about. In attendance were also some of the National officers.
I explained how the community and local officials were so behind you guys and to quote one of you in the past: "If it saves ONE life sometime in the futre, our efforts are NOT in vain."
I also told them about INSIDE EDITION. I said it like this- I am sure not everything they film makes the big screen, but the fact they chose to come and do it, says someone else thinks its a worthy cause.
My HATS off to the whole club! [=D>]
