Brad,

Is there any way to instant message someone with the forum software? I would like to get to someone while they are logged on.

Yes, using AOL IM. If you have a AOL IM acccount, which is free, and you put your IM screename in your profile on this forum, this software will put the little AOL guy as an icon at the bottom of your posts and in your profile.

You can then see if someone you want to talk to is online with the forum "who's on-line" list, click on thier name in the user list which will bring up their profile. You then click on the little AOL guy and establish the chat.

It sounds complicated but it really isn't. Just make sure you update your profile with your AOL screename.

I just had a little chat with Lilred and it worked pretty good. [:D]

Yes, Paul and I had a nice little chat...[:)]

Another thing you can do is just add the person's AIM login name into your buddy list and you can see if he or she is online in general without him or her necessarily being online at the NVCC forum. That way you can chat anytime, not just while on the NVCC boards.

I found that it is a nice way to razz mr. badaz with my man jokes! [:))] [>:)]

IM, I never got into that. My wife and kids have it and it is quite bothersome, with someone always chiming in. Is there a way to turn off IM, when you don't want to be bothered?

I'm the same way. I have it at work so that we can IM back and forth between developers without leaving our desks. Other than that, I'm not a big fan of it.

The little man walking icon should be on your task bar (lower right) when it is on. You can right click on the man to exit the IM program. If it is off and you double click on him, it will start the program.

Sure. Just log off and exit the program.

I have my off most of the time.
