I will be putting this on the calendar...if enough interest, I will organize a short Clifton/Fairfax Station cruise into the show, a nice twisty jaunt through a scenic area to exercise the cars beforehand. This area is one of the best for fun, quick little slaloms. [>:)]

Who would be interested in participating in a Labor Day Power Cruise and Show Day?

This show to benefit the Fairfax officers gunned down recently. Let's show our support.

Please post if you are interested...

UPDATED INFO:

This show can only hold up to 250 cars...over 500 are expected!!! We MUST get there by 7 AM in order to get parking...this event is that BIG!

We will meet at Newgate shopping center, at the intersections of routes 28 and 29 in Centreville at 6:30 AM (drivers' meeting...please be on time!) and depart at 6:40 AM for a short but scenic Clifton cruise into the show, a nice twisty jaunt through a beautiful area to exercise the cars beforehand. This area is one of the best for fun, quick little slaloms.

This show to benefit the Fairfax officers gunned down recently. Let's show our support and have a great time. As the president of our 'sister club', the NVMC (Northern Virginia Mustang Club), is a Fairfax County police officer, I thought it was appropriate that we join forces and attend this event together. I have extended the invitiation to the NVMC. Vettes and stangs unite!

Please register here OR email me at lilredcorvette94@yahoo.com to be on the attendance list. Use only one method to RSVP, please. If you want to be part of the NVCC/NVMC group and park together, then please RSVP and be at the meeting point at the appointed time. Otherwise, if you arrive at the show location later, be aware that you may not be able to park with us and that space WILL run out very quickly.

Directions to caravan meeting point:

From Route 66 westbound:
Take Exit 53A to Route 28 S and then take the Route 29 S Exit, immediately turning right into the parking lot.

There is a Joann's Fabrics, the Centreville post office, Fast Eddie's, Trader Joes and a Bank of America...right next to a Sunoco gas station where people can gas up and get coffee, etc..prior to departure.

Keep those RSVPs coming...

Laurie, I'll be there. I don't know if the '77 will be able to keep up, but I'll try. How do your new seats look?

How was this show???

I had thought about driving down this morning however, my wife (who used to work in the Town of Clifton) said it is an absolute MESS and parking is only on the grass [:(]

Any pics??? [B-)]

The show was great, a beautiful day! We left VERY EARLY in order to have preferential parking, arrived at 7 AM. Ceece Coburn arranged for police to block off streets so that I could lead the vettes and stangs for a short twisty jaunt through the fine streets of Clifton to the show [B-)] We also made special arrangements to occupy the parking lot of the Hermitage Inn for the 2 clubs to park. No parking on the streets for us! Anyone who didn't get there early got street parking wherever it could be found...Main Street and all the side streets. Spectator parking was on the grassy field near Clifton/Newman roads. There were at least 300-350 cars there...

The hub and I went to the Hermitage Inn for dinner the night before the show to check out the venue for what lied ahead. The streets were already cleared Sunday night at 6:30 PM and a sign was up stating that the road would be closed all day September 4th. They were ready for us!

My thanks to Ceece for his help, great job! And thanks to the club members who caravanned in or showed up later to give their support. I am guessing that it was record attendance and that a lot of money was rasied for charity. Bravo!

I thought it was a great show... fun event! I posted this over on the Corvette forum.com>>>

Clifton Car show and GT500 (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1490545)

Also the show raised over $30K for the recently slain FC police officers' families...very cool.

I suggest you all make this show a 'must attend'...sure gonna be on my calendar next year

I agree, it will be on the calendar next year for me as well...fabulous event and great cause. Hopefully more than just a few NVCCers will support this show next year. Those who missed it missed out on a fun Labor Day!

Cheers and looking forward to next year's already...
