Closed the old thread and here's the new info:

Michael Rierson, a relatively new member of the NVCC, has worked on a great weekend outing for our club. He has been working with National Road Autosport on having a 'something for everyone' weekend, to include an autocross, rallye or road tour, lodging, and many social activities.

Northern Virginia Corvette Club Cumberland Maryland Event
Autocross/Cruise/Social
August 19-20, 2006
Book your room at Town Hill Inn now! Only 20 rooms available.

Here is a great opportunity to enjoy the mountains of Western Maryland, join the National Road AutoSport Autocross event in Cumberland, and be with other club members at the beautifully restored Town Hill Inn (go to www.townhillbnb.com). Call Town Hill directly at 301-478-2794 to make your room reservations. Arrive at Town Hill on Saturday morning, settle into your room, meet fellow club members and make several decisions as to your day's activities:

Take a spirited 'through the mountains' drive to Falling Water (Frank Lloyd Wright house located in Pennsylvania, go to http://www.paconserve.org/index-fw1.asp) Tour the house and enjoy a lunch at their cafe. Driving route from Town Hill to Falling Water will be provided by the National Road AutoSport folks. (Cost of admission and lunch is on your own.) And/or add to your day, go to Cumberland Maryland and enjoy walking around in the Historic District (go to http://www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/cumberland/intro.htm)

Or, for those golfers in the club, go to the world class Rocky Gap GC (go to http://www.rockygapresort.com/golf/index.cfm)

And the Saturday finale, arrive at 6 pm for a Corvette heaven visit to Dr. Michael McCagh's beautiful 270 acre farm/estate, where he has a collection of over 40 Corvettes, many of which are national award winners (his 1961 is a Duntov award recipient.) Further details coming.

At around 7:30 pm return to Town Hill (about 5 mile drive) and get ready for a full dinner at their recently renovated restaurant.

Sunday is AutoX Day!! We will be joining the National Road AutoSport 2006 Cumberland Airport Summer Sizzler Autocross. NRA makes arrangement with FedEx to close the FedEx airfield for the day and imagine width and length of runways for the course. Lots of fun and talk about run off! Everyone gets a least 5 runs (maybe 6) and our session is scheduled for 11 a.m. (Fill in Summer Sizzler application and mail with $30 check directly to National Road AutoSport).

Submit as soon as possible so we can get a head count! DO NOT opt for the picnic since we will be having dinner at the Town Hill Inn that evening. For those who will NOT being doing the autocross you can do some of the things that Saturday offered (except the McCagh Farm visit) or just drive in the mountains of Western Maryland.

Costs for the event:

Saturday night lodging, dinner and Sunday breakfast: $93 PP based on double occupancy.

If you want to stay Friday night as well and have a Saturday breakfast included the price is $170 PP.

Sunday Autocross: $30

Saturday events (golf, admission to Falling Water or lunch is on your own.)

Sunday breakfast included in cost for Town Hill Inn lodging; Lunch or other costs for the day is on your own.)

TTT again. Folks, Michael has worked very hard on this event. At the GBMs we had a lot of interest so we went ahead with the plans.

Please...sign up NOW, or this event is at risk for cancellation.

Thanks,
Laurie

Is anyone signing up for the autocross on Sunday? Also looking at doing the tour of Falling Water (Frank Lloyd Wright house) but not sure what time to book the reservations for, the driving route from Town Hill to Falling Water will be provided by the National Road Autosport folks, but no time is indicated.

I spoke with Michael yesterday. At this time only 1-2 people have signed up for autox. [:(] If people want to partake in autox, I urge you all to sign up now. We have only 11 people (6 rooms) total booked for the weekend.

Michael will be chiming in shortly about these event plans and how they may change slightly due to participation levels. The event will not be cancelled, just altered. Please stay tuned regarding individual event times, etc.

This is disappointing all around...for the Inn owner, Michael for his hard work, for me as social director, etc. Plans went ahead due to ample interest at GBMs. It is truly disheartening that some who said they were interested in the plans are not signing up. [[-(]

Registered for one night (Saturday):

Shea
Rierson (due to small turnout might end up going for Friday night too.

Cumberland Maryland Event Details

August 18-20, 2006

To all those who signed up (or may wish to sign up now that you see what you will be missing)>>>>

Basically, we have a very light registration for this event so I am going to improvise since those who come will have a good couple days of driving, socializing and being with other Vette drivers - here is the update:

Town Hill B&B will keep the special room/event package which is a room at the Town Hill Inn (www.townhillbnb.com) (call 301-478-2794) for two nights + Friday evening ice breaker/reception (light snacks and drink set ups... BYOB & bring something to share with others) + Saturday breakfast + Sunday breakfast MINUS $21 for deleting Saturday night dinner (due to limited event sign ups dinner has to be canceled at the Inn BUT something else just as or more fun is planned). Also, Saturday only stay includes Sunday breakfast but deletes Saturday breakfast:

Now the new Event room package rates are based on double occupancy:

New cost for 2 night stay is from $170 PP to $149 PP (includes the "+" items noted above)

New cost for 1 night stay is from $93 PP to $72 PP (includes the "+" items noted above except Saturday breakfast)

Friday dinner is on your/our own (suggest we as a group look at the Lock House Restaurant near the Inn or the Rocky Gap Resort - www.rockygapresort.com - about 15 minutes away from the Inn.) The group can decide where to go and drive together.

Saturday:

Drive to Frank Lloyd Wright "Fallingwater" house located in Pennsylvania (www.paconserve.org/index-fw1.asp). We leave at about 9:45 am and arrive at 11:30 to tour the house (approximately 1- 1.25 hours) and then enjoy a lunch at their cafe. Driving route from Town Hill B&B to Fallingwater will be provided at Inn. (Cost of admission and lunch is on your own. Admission is $16 PP and Fallingwater has been notified that about 10 NVCC members will be coming. When you arrive at the gate, announce who you are with, pay admission and then gather at the visitor center so we can go as a group). And after Fallingwater you can add to your day by going to Cumberland Maryland and enjoy walking around in the Historic District (go to www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/cumberland/intro.htm)

Then Saturday you have a late afternoon drive from where ever then to our next treat & arrive at 6 pm for a Corvette heaven visit to Dr. Michael McCagh's beautiful 270 acre farm/estate (location and driving directions will be provided at the Inn), where he has a collection of over 40 Corvettes, many of which are national award winners (his 1961 is a Duntov award recipient.) Join in the picnic (crabs, corn on the cob, salads, etc) for dinner. Whenever festivities are over drive back to Inn and enjoy an evening there. There is a $15 fee for the picnic and you must sign up through the National Road AutoSport directly - Download Summer Sizzler form and just fill out checking ONLY the picnic (unless you want to AutoX too) and mail with check >>> www.nationalroadrally.com/pdf/2006SizzlerEntry.pdf.

Sunday:

The autoX event has changed. There was insufficient sign ups by the NVCC to warrant a separate grouping on Sunday, so please contact the National Road AutoSport staff directly for the 2006 Cumberland Airport Summer Sizzler Autocross details. If you have registered for autoX already, please contact them directly (http://www.nationalroadrally.com/info.html) to see what run group you are in and importantly which day (Saturday or Sunday) and what time.

For those not autoXing it is a "drive the mountains of Western Maryland day" and/or simply head back to home.

The event is much smaller than planned which means our merry band can add/change what we do based on our collective mood.

If you have any questions, etc, please contact Michael Rierson at 703-505-5580
