Was bound to happen eventually. Ran over the curb edge in a parking garage and gouged the car body just in front of the right rear tire. [:((] [:((] [:((] [:((] I knew my new Vette wouldn't be pristine forever but never expected it would be "self-inflicted."

Any suggestions for touching up this area short of replacing and repainting that portion of the car?

Again --> [:((] [:(] [:((]

Jeff,

Sorry to hear that. I'm not familar enough with the C5s to give any suggests about the repair.

Is there a rocker panel there that you can replace or is it actually in the body? Pics???

Is it the 1 inch vertical portion that basically points down to the curb? I'm guessing you C5'rs have the same detail.

Mine gets chipped from jacking it up all the time and I don't fix it. Gives the car a little rough edge, people don't want to f_ck with it...

I would imagine a little epoxy would fix it. Check out the autocrossing/road racing section on corvetteforum, there was a discussion just the other day about fixing lower body panels.

Unfortunately, it's on the curved edge right in front of the rear wheel and it's gouged pretty deeply. Apparently, it caught the curved edge of the curb just as the car was rolling back onto the pavement (hope I explained that correctly).

No problem posting pics. I just need to wash the road grime off the car; haven't been able to do that in a couple of weeks because it's been too cold to wash it.

More later, gang.

That shouldn't be too hard to fix. They'll put the compound on it (to fill the gap), sand it down and paint it. Try Stingrays in Purcellville...

Don't worry too much about having a car that has been "fixed". You won't be able to tell the difference when its done.

Just discovered the other damage. When it rolled off the side of the curb, it damaged the right rear wheel (not the tire). Scraped it up pretty well in one area. Don't think I'll be able to fix that. It's one of the polished aluminum wheels.

If you take this to Stingray Auto, Charlie just might be able to fix the wheel too. He sends them out to be fixed, but it depends upon the damange...if you claim insurance, that wheel could easily make your deductable....

Stingray does excellent work, and helped sponsor our Concours last time we had it. Don't forget to tell Charlie (the owner) you are a member of the NVCC.....

Sending the wheel away is going to be an issue. That could take a couple of weeks. Of course, I'll have to do the same thing if I get the rocker panel repaired or replaced. As the coupe is my daily driver, that'll mean I'll have to rent a car to go to work.

I'll probably just replace the wheel through the dealership or another vendor. Should run about $300-$400 buck for the wheel. Fortunately, the tire is OK.

Still can't believe I ran over that darn curb. [:(] [:(]

Just got a price quote for one OEM 18 inch high polished aluminum replacement wheel from Mike Pallone Chevy: over $600!! For one wheel!!! [:(]

Not sure if the wheels on the late model coupes are the same design but was wondering if someone might have a right rear 18 inch high polished aluminum wheel compatible with my 04 Coupe they'd be will to part with for a reasonable price?? [:D] [:D]

Thanks, gang.
