WHAT: Annual Club Picnic/BBQ

WHEN: Sunday, 7/9/06
12:00 PM- 06:00 PM

WHERE: Algonkian Regional Park
47001 Fairway Drive
Sterling, VA 20165

COST: FREE!

Our annual picnic/BBQ will be held this year at Algonkian Regional Park on Sunday, 7/9/06. Come out and enjoy hamburgers, hotdogs, various side items, salads, soft drinks, and dessert as you enjoy the park's nature trail, family playground, and golf. We have reserved Pavilion #1 for the entire day; please use the events tab to sign up OR RSVP here OR RSVP to lilredcorvette94@yahoo.com and indicate how many in your party will be attending. Please choose only one method of RSVP! For more park information visit: http://www.nvrpa.org/algonkian.html

Directions: To reach Algonkian Regional Park from the Beltway (I-495), take Route 7 west 11 miles to Cascades Parkway north, and drive 3 miles to the park entrance.

Like last year, I will need helpers for the event. Here is what I need:

Richard Mars - BBQing the grub.

Paul Benish - in charge of bringing the following: hamburgers and hot dogs and buns for both from Price Club or somewhere comparable/charcoal/lighter fluid/grilling utensils/condiments/pickles/american cheese/styrofoam plates/plastic cups, utensils and serveware.

Anne Costolanski - picking up the bottled water/soda/whatever other NON-alcoholic beverages we need. Sorry, no beer/booze, please DO NOT BRING IT, Fairfax County park law and out of our budget anyway.

Paul Benish - photographer to take pics of the event.

ME (Laurie) - ordering/picking up & bringing all the side items/platters: baked beans/potato salad/pasta salad/watermelon boat/desserts/etc...since I have a coupe and it all fits just perfectly.

Will also need people to donate the use of their coolers for the drinks and some people to bring bags of ice.

Please sign up to help. I will update the worker list as committments come in. Anyone who wants to bring games, volleyball, etc, please feel free to bring those items for use in the park. This event is open to NVCC members, their families, and those who have applied for NVCC membership (prospectives).

Hi Laurie.
I plan on attending the picnic and expect to bring my daughter and her new born baby. By then the baby will be a month old. I live about 5 minutes from Algonkian Park so I'll be driving there from my house.
Thanks,
Joe [:)]

Lauri, Irene and I will be there. We can chat about what's needed at the next general business meeting (6/27). We can't bring a big cooler since the C4 vert has a real small 'trunk'.

You're both on the list. Any of the above will fit in a coupe, if done separately. I split all the supplies up so that everyone could take their vettes and not put the burden all on one person. Sign up for what you feel comfortable with getting.

Of course, everyone who signs up for one of the supply groupings will be reimbursed by the club. Please remember to bring your receipts.

The timeline is closing in. Let's rally, folks! [:)]

Yahoo weather:

Sunday: Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s.

Looks like it could be a good one, folks! [B-)]

Had a beautiful day out at Algonkian, the weather was great, as was the company...hope the rest of you had a good time as well.

Special thanks to the following helpers:

Paul Benish for getting the meat, buns, chips, condiments, charcoal, etc...and for taking pics. Thanks to all others who contributed their cameras and shutterbug skills for pics as well.

Anne Costolanski for bringing the beverages and the carrot cake.

Richard Mars for taking on the grilling duties.

Randy Urick for the amazing, professional job on the music he provided. It made the atmosphere!

Everybody who brought coolers and ice. We could have made a sculpture! [:D]

Thanks to all who helped set up and clean up...and all of you who helped to eat some of this great food! [:D]

Laurie,

Damn good job on the picnic. I think everyone had a good time. Food was great. Well worth the wait until we had the fire perfect
