Back by popular demand...Hopsfrog Brunch Cruise...the first one of the 2006 season!

WHEN: Sunday, June 25th, 2006

9:45 AM - arrival at cruise start point (Giant Food/Sunoco parking lot on Route 123 (Shops at Lorton Valley)

10:00 AM - quick driver's meeting/map hand-outs

10:10 AM - depart for cruise

11:00 AM - arrive at Hopsfrog Tavern for brunch

Hopsfrog Tavern's Sunday Brunch is $12.95 + drink + tax + tip.

Please bring CASH - $18.00 per person - exact change only!

Cruise start point: For ease of egress, this time we will be meeting at the Giant Food/Sunoco parking lot on Route 123 (Shops at Lorton Valley). From 7100 (Ffx Cty Pkwy) take the Route 123 south exit and pass the Burke Lake Golf Course and Park and continue toward Lorton. The Shops at Lorton Valley will be on your left.

Or, if you wish to attend brunch only, directions to Hopsfrog are as follows:

From I-495 - Take the Braddock Exit (Ext. 5 - Rt. 620 West)

Go approx. 5 miles to Rt. 123 (Ox Rd.)

Turn left on Burke Centre Parkway (approx. 1/2 mile)

Hopsfrog Tavern is on left (hard to miss!)

I was gonna try and join y'all for the cruise but the weather is too questionable to bring the 78 out of the garage.

I should be able to get down to FLA to pick up the new (for me) 2001 during the next few weeks. Then I won't be so reluctant to join in on the fun when the weather is questionable.

With the liquid sunshine pouring down outside, does anyone know the status of this event, i.e., on or off. If it's on, then I need to leave within the next few minutes to make it in time.

Your "Mississippi" route was great with only one problem area that (a) was not there on the recon and, (b) beyond your control - you are not responsible when someone's driveway washes out and deposits all of it's gravel in the middle of the road.

I'm sorry that circumstances precluded my staying for the brunch at Hopsfrogs.

Yeah, Mother Nature sure did change things up a bit from the "scouting run" made earlier in the week. In addition to the driveway washout onto the road, there was the little creek across the one road and the lake that formed elsewhere [>:)]

All in all, it was a fun run - I may have hit the brakes 5 times the whole route (other than for stop signs).
I hit the lake w/ spalshing force - enough that in an opti-spark Vette, it would leave you high & dry - or wet...

Chris and Laurie, thanks for the fun run! "Stuff" happens when it rains as much as it has in the last week or so. I was a little concerned with getting the Opti-spark wet, but going really really slowly was the only way to go. I imagine that the two creeks we crossed in the road became raging rivers later in the day.
