All,
Some NC 'vetters are working with the people at the Biltmore estate in Asheville, NC to bring back "Corvettes at Biltmore" this November. This looks like a really cool event and the Biltmore folks are eager to have Corvettes there.
They even have a setup where you can have your car's picture taken and they insert it over a picture of the front of the estate! [:))]
They are looking for clubs from the NC, VA, GA, TN, and SC areas to participate. Anyone up for a nice roadtrip to an infamous mansion? More details will be put up as they come in.
Post if interested and your thoughts, please...thanks!

I would assume early November to preclude any weather snafus, but I will report back when I am given a firm date... [B-)]
Can you say ROAD TRIP?! WOOHOOOOOO!
On the way down I think we should stop at a Sonic, too [:D]

They get some publicity, good revenue, etc.
...and what's in it for us? Free admission and free winery tour?

Don't know any details yet, at this point they are putting out feelers for interest. As soon as I hear anything I'll post it here and ask about what bennies we get.

Great place to visit beautiful grounds. Picturesque to say the least BUT the price of admission, 3 years ago, for the minimum ,self guided tour was $37 per head! The Vanderbilts still own the place so if we are providing them an attraction we should get SOMETHING in return. Count me in ... you can take the Blue Ridge Parkway from Roaoke to the Biltmore. Makes Skyline drive meek in comparison!

Jiminy Christmas [:O] $37 a head? Good Lord, aren't they rich enough? [:))] I didn't think it was still privately run, guess I was wrong about that one!
Like I said, I will be sure to get better details when the event plans begin to roll. Sounds like a good trip...

Their website says $45 per adult. Don't know if that is seasonal or not. I'd go for the cruise on the BR Parkway but I'm not about to participate in providing them an attraction gratis and get bent over at the same time.

I would have thought if they were putting out any type of feelers that they would have had made some details available...
Something better than "hey how would a bunch of you like to come down and tour our estate during the off season?"

It is in the VERY beginning stages. Don't kill the messenger! [:))] [:D] But I agree, some details would have been nice...
The people planning the event probably don't want to put all the work into it if there was not sufficient interest. That could be why the lack of details.
Will keep you all posted...

Woohoo, that would be going "home" for us since we own property in the mountains 40 miles SW of Asheville where we plan to build our retirement home. [:">]
Yes it is very expensive to go through the estate and grounds once but our new neighbors down there told us to join as a yearly member which is around $75 and you get unlimited visits, discounts for guests, and bunches of discounts around town. They change all the flowers every month so our neighbors would go to the grounds once a month. Not that that would help our club but I just wanted to put in a good word for The Biltmore. Of course we could figure it out how we could get a certain number of yearly memberships and bring in a lot of "guests" and split the costs between us. Just a thought. The probably have group discounts, they must have!!
As to the trip down there, we kind of experts on that since we go there 2 or 3 times a year. We know scenic ways, quick and dirty ways and how long each takes. If you add in the BRParkway you are going to add a lot of time to a trip that takes all day anyway. I suggest going down one of the two ways we go and take some trips on the Parkway while we're there.
Count us in.
We're probably down going there in October (not to the estate, to our town of Brevard) but we'll go back anytime and the photo sounds FANTASTIC.

Hmmm Biltmore, not too far away, chance to meet up with the folks I don't run into at the track.
Count me as a maybe.
OBTW if they pick the right weekend the place will be decorated for christmas - always wanted to go when it was decorated.

When in November? Sounds like fun! Count me and Janet in if its a GO. I don't care whether we get something out of it or not - I would consider any "freebie" a bonus to this cool cruise to an awesome destination. Thanks.

As one of the co organizers of the national Audi TT events I was responsible for setting up the 'formal' picture for each event (pic was then made into a poster for each participant)...couple years ago the event was held in Ashville NC and made arrangements with the Biltmore to do the pic in front of the estate...catch was I had 30 minutes to stage and shoot..and there were ~130 TTs>>

Also did a package deal with Biltmore that included a dinner (right after the picture was taken) (restaurant is in the horse stables but the Biltmore horse stables are probably nicer that most homes) and tour...great price and basically the tour was thrown in free...

Michael - that's an impressive effort you coordinated for the Audi TT folks! It would be great if we could get a similar deal in place for our cruise. I like the idea of getting a poster of the vette club in front of the Biltmore - very nice! The arrangement with the restaurant would definitely be cool and appreciated. Mike

[B-)] I agree that is wonderful...BUT we are also at the mercy of those planning the event, they may have different ideas and plans. I'd love to make suggestions and/or suggest Mike R. was in on the plans, but we also have to be careful not to step on the toes of those who are actually planning the event.
I will keep an eye out and see where I can give input, if any. [:)]

Laurie and all, sounds like a great idea! Irene and I went to Biltmore 2 years ago this September and three years ago in April. last year. It's worth the price of admission. Depending on when in November, we may be able to make it... we're celebrating our annivesary Nov 4 - 13th cruising in Mexico (ship not the vette).
