Well, almost. Sideling Gap is on Rt 68, through the mountain! The gap has been cut out of the top of the mountain so the 4 lane highway (68) can get to Cumberland directly. You can see rock layers that have been uplifted and bent, and it's worth a stop.

Here is a link to the National Freeway (I-68) web site. http://www.roadstothefuture.com/I68_MD.html It's official name is Sideling Hill Cut, but it seems to go by the more familar name of Sideling Gap. I've been through it a few times, the worst was when it was socked in with fog "thick as pea soup".
