Ladies and Gentlemen!!!!
The Northern Virginia Corvette Club's Sir Isaac Newton's Totally Awesome Driving School was a total smashing success!!! From beginning to end it went off without a flaw! I really want to thank everyone from top to bottom that was involved with this event!!! This is the type of event that puts clubs like ours on the map!!!
There is a lot that I want to say here so I hope I don't forget anyone! We had officials from 2 counties participating in this event along with 2 different county chamber of commerce members observing! They were estatic at least! There will be more to come from this part.
A special thanks needs to go out to the following for this event to go the way it did!
Members or NVCC that participated in this event
Howard Snook of Long & Foster
Koons Chevy in Tysons
Crossroads Online
Discount Tire centers
Members of all other clubs that helped out! (BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc)
Without all of you this event would not have happened.
Sitting at the Hooters last night with a bunch of the instructors I was going over the reviews of the course and they were on a scale of 1 to 10 at about a 15! It's unbelievable to watch the progress of the teens as the go through the day! Absolutely amazing! This is the kind of stuff that makes this club great!

I'm sitting here still recuperating! [:))]
I was totally 'fried' last night when I got home but it was accompanied by a number of other emotions. Satisfaction, happiness, and pride.
The satisfaction of seeing people improve before you eyes as you teach them new skills. The happiness of spending time with friends. And the pride in knowing a group of people that would spend the time and efforts to put an event like this on.

I know what you mean Mike! I was wiped out!
It was absolutely amazing to watch those kids progress throughout the day! That made all the hair pulling worth it in it's self!
This event was HUGE , HUGE , HUGE for the club!
It just goes to show the selflessness of the members of the car club. [;)]

Amazingly, I got a significant amount of sunburn/windburn from the event. Man, that wind just would not give up.

We had a great time working with the teens, they were all so respectful and all ears. Every parent that tagged along in the back seat couldn't say enough about what we were doing and they couldn't believe that we were all volunteers and were there because we wanted to help out. We came home exhausted, but with a great sense of pride, we'll do it again for sure!
Dana (daughter) who attended the instruction had a great time and now wants to learn how to drive a standard so that she can start autocrossing one of the Vettes. Hmmmm, are we ready for this? [\:D/]

You and Zoel may not be [:))] but she is [:D]
Both Woodsie and I were really impressed with her car control on the skid pad. To quote Mike "some people really are naturals".
Give her a chance, she'll do fine. [;)]

There was a guy named Zach driving a black Tbird. He definately should look into a drift racing career. There was a girl in a black Mustang that was very impressive as well.

Guys,
If you are wondering what kind of impact this had with the community take a look at a sample of the responses that I am getting back! Beings NCCC likes to prowl the web (Hey Brian!) maybe they can spread the word about what NVCC is doing!
My 17 year old daughter,Alexis, didn't want to come all week long, as she said that she "already had her license and is a 'good driver'. She put her selling hat on and tried all types of creative ways to get me to change my mind. She really knew in her heart that this would be impossible. I wanted to give her an invaluable experience that could save her life and anyone riding with her. What more can a parent do than to prepare their children in every way possible to properly handle any and all situaitons in life that they can. This skill is an absolute requirement for all drivers, especially those that are inexperienced (teenagers etc.).
Well, the good news is that she gave the highest ratings (10) ten in all categories on the course end survey! This was a very 'eye-opening' experience for her. As further testimony, she reminded me how she used what she learned in class today to handle the off-ramp curve off I-66 on to the Fairfax County Parkway as we headed home. That was evidence that 'learning took place (transfer of skills & knowledge). She also said that she hardly remembers what she learned in Drivers Ed.
Sincerely,
Byron Jones
I want to both thank you and commend you for the absolutely fantastic education you provided drivers (both new and old) on Saturday. My daughter learned invaluable lessons that could not be replicated anywhere else. The professionalism of the instructors, teachers, and leaders is to be applauded.
She came away with more knowledge in one day than I feel I had after driving for 30 years.
Again, thank you for providing such a wonderful opportunity for teen drivers and their parents.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend.
Maureen and Christine Wells
Just a follow up to the the clinic you put on . I know my son Zach throughly enjoyed it as well as learned a great deal about the control of his vehicle . He talked in great length Saturday night and Sunday about it . I greatly appreciate the effort everyone in your club put into this and hopefully you all will continue to do so .
Thanks again

Thank you for all the work and effort you and all the instructors put into the event. My son, Charlie Ashley, was thrilled to attend and now has a better understanding about maneuvering the car out of situations that may occur. He also said some of his friends, who are new drivers, would benefit from taking the class. He said having taken the class will make him a safer driver and I agree.
Again, both Charlie and I thank you and everyone who worked so hard with the kids. It was a most worthwhile experience for both of us.
Thank you.

My husband and I cannot thank you and everyone who made this event possible enough! Christina called me 3 hours into the training to tell me what a great time she was having. She said that she learned so much. We have all had to adjust our car seats to the proper distance away from the steering wheel and hold the steering wheel properly, and pivot between the gas and brake pedals (because every second counts)! J She was not too excited about attending because she had to get up early, but she LOVED it! She said that she was so glad that she went. Your efforts may one day prove to save her life.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am writing this email to express my sincerest appreciation and gratitude for
the One Day Driving Program for Teens. Interestingly enough, perhaps it
should be called the One Day Driving Program for Teens & Parents. I found the
program to be educational and informative, the instructors were knowledgeable,
friendly and professional, and most importantly everyone made it fun. I highly
recommend this program to others and encourage that it be sponsored more
frequently. I strongly believe that this type of course should be mandatory for
all teenagers at the high school level along with the Drivers Ed classroom
teaching and the basic Road and Range they take before earning their license. My
son thoroughly enjoyed himself and hopes to do it again in the near future. The
different driving ranges/scenarios were realistic and relayed the importance to
him of the need to look ahead of the road and be aware of all his surroundings
as he is driving. He also learned to respect the power of a vehicle and the
need to maintain control of his car every time he drives. Thank you for making
this program available to my teen and hope to see you at the range. The

I can say that without a doubt that my son had a great time and learned a lot. I think it was a valuable experience for the kids and adults as well. I was suprised at how much was covered in the classroom session. It was apparent that everyone involved was very enthusiastic. I would like to thank everyone involved for giving us the opportunity to participate in this.
You had mentioned that there are other classes offered by your organization and others. I would like it if you could add me to any email lists that would keep me informed about these sessions so that my son and I might participate in these as well.

I think this says it all. Don't you all. [:)]

Ya know I got home last night after picking up a couple of friends from the airport, and I was barely awake enough to get back to my house. I was so tired I slept until 1 the next day, but ya know what? I would do it all again in a heartbeat. It was the most amazing thing watching those kids and listening to them ask questions at tech and really, honestly, wanting to learn how to drive and how things work. I truly hope others want us to do this because it is very very well worth it and I'll be the first person volunteering the next time.

I never felt more proud. I know that somewhere, sometime one of those teens (or mom's or dad's) is going to minimize a potentially bad situation because of what they practiced during the clinic. My thanks to you, George and Miriam, who didn't let this opportunity slip away!! [:D] [:D]

Ralph, thanks but everyone that helped was part of this equation. [;)] And made this event possible. My thanks go out to everyone that worked together on this event. A lot of people put many hours into this to show the community that we do care. Instructors, cone setters, helpers, sponsors, pizza getters, it doesn't matter because there is no "I" in "TEAM". [;)]

I just received the national NCCC minutes. The business manager gets all the K&K requests for added insurance, etc and when he got a copy of this TEEN EVENT, he immediately contacted me. Andrej and I both explained to him how the event was to be run, etc and he was satisfied.
Well, here is an excerpt from the national minutes, under the business manager's report:
"He (business mgr) gets copies of all the increased limits etc from K & K and got a copy of one showing a Teen Driving School. He checked into this and found that a club in the East Region has made a significant effort to provide a program to teach 16-18 year olds to drive. They did it the right way, they have been sanctioned by the school that the kids attend, the PTA, the school board, they require both parents to be on site, kids have to drive their own car and they are going to teach them how to drive in difficult situations. We need to all think about this, would be a great thing for our organization to start doing for people."
WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!! [=D>]
