Hey Jack...not going to make it this go-around...gotta plan my Saturday's off very carefully ya' know! I've heard a lot about this event though - very High Profile...glad to hear that you're helping out. Hope you've got enough in the race budget for a new set of brakes (CMP = Continually Mashing my PFC's )...I don't want you bailing out of the Chin Event at VIR!! [B-)]

And remember...keep your foot in it at the kink! Good luck - see you soon! [:)]

Hey, just back from the National Corvette Museum's first HPDE event. Down at CMP. I must say it was very well put together. Very well organized and very efficiently run. Modeled of course, after the NASA way of doing things.

Dan Unkefer ran the classroom instruction, Roc Linkov, the National Corvette Museum's Events Manager organized the thing and Tom Bohlmann put together the HPDE set-up. I must say, they did a very nice job.

There were 3 HPDE groups plus the instructors with 63 students. From everything I saw and heard, all had a very good time. Look for 2 to 3 events next year by the National Corvette Museum. Locations unknown at this time.

Rick, you'll be happy to know that my brakes made it through the weekend this time with no ill effects. But, you're right. This is the hardest course I've seen on brakes. If you want fast lap times and you want to pass "new" Corvettes with an "old" Crossfire, you've got to use up the brakes.

My two students were husband and wife from Bowling Green, KY with an '80 C3 automatic. That was fun!! The husband thought he was Michael Shumacher, the wife was scared to death and the car was tired. Made for an interesting weekend. Hey, no problem. They drove it home in the same condition it showed up in, tired!

It was great fun and the weather was beautiful. I'll give you the details at the NVCC HPDE in a couple of weeks. - Jack -

From what I've seen on the CF, everyone had a good time.

Did you solo "Michael" then? [:))]

You'll have to elaborate about the details when we see you on the 19th.

Ah, no. Michael didn't solo. But, I did give him enough rope to hang himself. Which he promptly did. After which, he was reined in for the remainder of the event!! Which I might add, he did all on his own. Something about having to drive himself and his wife home to Bowling Green, KY kept the car where it should be and as instructed!!!!

The Corvette Museum is going to hold 3 or 4 HPDE's next year. Check the web site out and see if there's one you would like to make. They run a very nice weekend. It's worth the drive. I'm planning on instructing at a couple of them, CMP and one other one.

Hey Jack

I would but their site sucks! I can't find anything on it.

Can you post the schedule here or do you have a link to the schedule on their site?

{I think they need some professional help with that site}

The Corvette Museum HPDE track event dates and tracks are not published yet for 2006. Expect to see it in January '06.

The plan is to hold one in the spring at a track in the southeast, 2 events during the summer in the midwest and one in the fall at CMP.

That's all I've got on it for now. - Jack -
