Hello, I am a Fairfax County, Virginia elementary school teacher. I'm getting married on April 3rd, and as a guy I don't have much need to make suggestions on flowers, dresses, etc. I trust my fiance with all of that. However, one thing I am interested in is having an amazing ride at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel at George Mason University in Fairfax to the reception in Clifton, 10 minutes away.

I realize that most couples rent cars and hire drivers for such an event, but I am marrying another teacher and our combined salaries demand some cost-cutting. I figure there might be someone in that area who would like to show off their car in front of 150 admirers for a few minutes and help make a couple's wedding day extra special. We would happily provide a meal at the excellent Heart in Hand restaurant in Clifton.

Please write to me at stsmithva@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Steven T. Smith

I do understand your situation, as I am a kind of a newlywed (about 2.5 yrs now).

Um, just checking here, but you do realize that vettes are 2-seaters. Are you just trying to have a vette owner drive ONE of you down to the church, or are you wanting to drive yourself and your new wife to the reception?

Please do NOT take this the wrong way, but I don't know many corvette owners who will just let you rent their car so that you can drive it with someone else (in this case, your bride). If it was the vette owner driving one passenger, I could see it as a possibility. I guess we need a clarification.

I'd have to agree with LilRed. Unless I personally know you, you would have to do some mighty good explaining to get your hands on my car.

BTW: I do not even let my husband drive my vette. I bought the car and it's in MY name...

You will find that corvette people (as well as many other sportscar people) are very anal-retentive about their cars!!!

Another few thoughts I had:

How about posting this on some message boards for people who have non-2-seater/vintage cars? Also, call some of the rental-car companies (such as Hertz, etc...), sometimes they rent out Jags and such. Check their availability, some of their pricing is decent.

Also check out www.theknot.com, specifically their local DC boards. It is a wedding-planning website, very helpful. Hope this helps somewhat.
