A big thanks to Andrej, James, and all others who helped put together a great Spook this year. Temps were great, and the incidents kept to a minimum....
Good job guys, great work.

Ditto that sentiment. If it wasn't for the workers (you all know who you are [;)] ) there wouldn't be an event. Had a blast and cannot wait until next year.

Have to AGREE! Andrej and Jim put together a great team and put on an awesome event this year.
Special thanks to all of the corner workers and timing/scoring staff. The corner workers for keeping us safe and the T/S team for keeping things running smooth despite some glitches.
Everyone's efforts were greatly appreciated even if we didn't get to say THANKS to all of you personally.
My only regret is that we couldn't give more workers "fun runs".
THUMBS UP to ALL! [:x]

Well this was first time I missed Spook and was able to actually watch. Man you guys and gals were movin out. Sarver, you kept Geyer on his toes and kept him honest. I spoke with Geyer on the phone and he said "when did Sarver start driving so fast" I explained SEAT TIME and some personal training on the line at the Jefferson [;)]

I think the BIGGEST and LARGEST thank you should go to Jim Anderson.
Jim's been tireless when it comes to helping out the club, and last weekend was no different. I dont understand what makes him work as hard as he does, but this club wouldn't be as good as it is without him.
I'm glad we had some help and company out there for him as well. Who were those helpers?

And I also want to thank everyone for being so hospitable to my girlfriend Lori... this was the first time she saw this sort of event.. the first time she saw me on the track....and the first time she went THAT fast around a curve..... [:p]

Jack's son Zack and I don't remember the other two youg guys.
And Lindsey helped out relaying times on Saturday.
Could have used a little more help putting things away, but it all went well.

No Kidding! I guess I'm going to have to take stock in Hoosier tire company though! Corded the left front this weekend. Must have been that 53.9 at the end of the day with Erica in the car! [:D]
And Brian, Lori is an extremely nice young lady. I'm glad she had a good time, and oh yeh... It was good to see you too. [:D]

I finally figured out how to drive again in the last two events. It was a blast. [:D] I am looking forward to the HDPE in Nov.

Be proud, your club knows how to have a good time! Thanks for the wonderful hospitality, we had a great time visiting with you wonderful folks. Lots of beautiful cars and great people. And, to the gentleman from PA that suggested we go over to the main track for "lunch time parade" laps at the Porsche event, THANK YOU!! We got there just in time to sign-up for the laps. And let me tell you, they were anything but parade laps!! I certainly wasn't expecting to be driving my 1970 Cougar over 100 mph on a road course, but sure am glad I got to do it, great fun!
I have a few photos of your event in my on-line gallery, as well as some on-track shots from the Cougar / Mustang guys goofing around the main track. Enjoy:

Like I said a couple of times through out the weekend, "the only thing that could make it better is if Woodsie, Ralph, Chuck and the rest of the 'old' group were running".
Thanks for the personal training, it did help but I have to be honest. The biggest help to improving my driving has come from running with you, Ralph and the rest of the gang at the HPDEs.
It takes SEAT TIME to be a good driver and to learn your car. It takes the 'push' from running with a great bunch of guys to make you go that little bit more. [;)]

Maybe so. November 19th is the weekend of my youngest daugthers first birthday though, so it may be hard to get away. I will talk it over with SWMBOed....
Even if I can't be there, I may be able to get some interest from some of the other guys. I will pass the word on. Thanks for the offer!
BTW, most of these guys would be first-timers. Would they be able to rent helmets?

The most amusing Off track incident had to be Jim and my g/f Ashley. She's always giving me a hard time about driving the car to hard in turns on the street (isnt that why they're banked?), and at the concours was bored out of her mind ("I dont understand people standing there looking at cars"). So she comes up Saturday, and I'm thinking, "Oh no..here we go, she'll hate this", and instead, she had a good time.
For those of you that didnt meet her, she was the one at the starting line on Saturday, who sat down, reached into her purse, and started....KNITTING. Which lasted not very long, once the Group 3 cars, especially Sarver, Compton, and Geyer took off, and the knitting went away.
Anyways, she decides she wants a fun run, asks if I think anyone would mind, I said no..and she decided to go with Jim Beaupre and Joe Malo. I suggested Joe first, knowing he's a bit saner than Jim, but she said "Jim's a safer driver." I pointed out how he likes to spin out, she "hmmphed" me with a "only 2 wheels went off.", and off she went.
So she comes by in Jim's car...I check she's in all nice and tight, and send them off. about 25 seconds later I hear "RED FLAG! RED FLAG!", and I was like, "Ut oh..that's her and Jim"
A minute later I hear over the radio, "Who was in the car with Jim?" I say, "Ashley, my g/f, why?". The response was, "Well, she just got a helliva ride"
A few minutes afterwards I see the Z06 coming back around, everyone safe and sound. Ashley comes over to me, and I ask, "You ok?" YES. "What happened?" He spun in that corner over there, I knew he had lost it going into the turn. "Scare ya?" No, but dammit he got DIRT ALL OVER ME!!!
Personally, I'd of been peeing my pants, so my hat is off to her for getting back into another car and going out again [:)]

Now that's funny! [:))] I'm glad she had a good time though! Erica's first response was OH SH*T!!! Then as soon as we pulled off the track it was "Turn around and go again". Thanks Jeff for giving us that extra couple of feet! That 53 felt real good, and smooth! [;)]

Events went well with good weather too. We had a record 89 cars sat and 93 sunday for a 1/2 mile long autocross coarse.(WOW) I was in 3rd gear cooking pretty good. [:D] We had timed over 1,400 timed runs for the weekend with no timing problems or any oops. It was fun, but not as fun as SPOOK racing and hanging out with some really good friends I have met over the years. I will be looking for pictures of your events on the site here providing they are posted here. Glad to hear all went well. Mike Geyer sure does fly in that old C4. I thought Chuck W. had his car fixed and was going to be there. Was he?

Nobody puts on an NCCC event like NVCC! You guys sure do know what you're doing out there!
It was great seeing a lot of the old-timers (Andrej, Paul, Woodsie, Mike S, Ralph, Dick H, B4, Poage, Bob C and Sadie, Kirk and Cheryl... I know I'm missing a lot more), and got to meet a lot of the newer members as well.
Saturday I worked the timer with James, Colin and Zach, and had a good time doing so. On Sunday, when Colin's little brother joined us I thought I could slip out and see some of the action, as well as mingle with some old friends (hope you didn't mind, Andrej [:)] ).
It was great watching the battle between Sarver and Geyer each day (not to take anything away from the other drivers). It seemed those guys just pushed one another as the days wore on. Hey, how about those C4's!? I have been coming to this event since 1997 and don't believe a C5 has ever taken FTD. [:p]
After the event on Sunday I got to go on a fun run with Sarver, and I gotta say it was one hell of a thrill ride. [B-)] There was a time when Mike and I were on a level playing field when it came to racing, but not anymore. I'm not even in the same league with him now. He was on the gas in some places that I wouldn't even think of, and would be standing on it coming out of those off-camber corners. [:O] It takes brass cajones to drive a car on the edge like that! Thanks a lot Mike! I really enjoyed it and it gives me something to shoot for in the coming years.
But what can you say about Geyer? The old man just gets better with age. [:))] He's got that special quality, when challenged, he always seems to step it up a notch. Way to go Mike!
Job well done, guys! The club should be proud of themselves! Look forward to seeing you next year! [:)]
