My truck (97 K1500 w/ a 5.7) is leaking antifreeze from the intake manifold gasket and I need to replace it or get it replaced. How much of a PITA is it to replace? Is there someone who can help me with it if I decide to replace it myself?
Thanks

Shouldn't be to bad I would think. Is it throttle body injection like my 95 Suburban?

I would do it myself, if I were you. It's a dark and dirty job, but you can do it right for the cost of the gasket and some gasket goo.
I can help too!

This would be a good weekend to do it on. Get the parts tomorrow, Thursday good weather and temps aren't bad. If that works for you and Andrej, I'm offering a hand (or two) [:D]

This weekend is good. I've got something cooking Sat morning, but anytime after that is good.

Thanks Mike & Andrej! [:D] I just don't have the $$ to pay someone to do this right now.
I'll buy the gaskets on Friday and call you to work out the details.
I'll owe you both big time one this!

Well, we got it done and it started the first time. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/six_speed//Icons/verybiggrin.gif
Many, many thanks go out to Mike and Andrej for helping out and pretty much doing the entire job. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/six_speed//Icons/coolshades.gif I was pretty much their errand boy.
Gotta love this club and it's members.

I was glad to help. The weather was perfect (70+ degrees on January 4th) and it was a great way to pass the weekend, working on and talking cars with friends. [:D]

Yeah, I agree. It was a lot of fun and we didn't have too many parts left over!

How's the truck runnin'? Was Joe able to take care of the SES?

Yup, I just got back from Koons and we had it adjusted in about 1/2 hour. The only reason it took that long is because the computer kept compensating so we had to start it, get the reading, turn it off, adjust it, start it, get the reading, turn it off, etc.
I've been driving around for the past three weeks with 26 degrees of advance [@-)] and Joe got it to 3 degrees of advance. He reset the comptuer and I'm good to go. [:D]
Thanks again to Andrej, Mike, and Joe! [B-)]
