I've been looking forward to this event all year and it looks like the weather is going to be perfect.
http://www.weather.com/activities/other/other/weather/tenday.html?locid=16157&from=36hr_topnav_undeclare d
Partly cloudy for the drive up on Friday, mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s - low 80s for the weekend and lows in the upper 50s at night. Partly cloudy for the drive back on Monday.
With Jack out and enjoying the hospitality of Mexico City, it looks like it will be Mike and Janet, Ralph and myself meeting up at the Ravensworth Shopping Ctr. Departure is scheduled for 1100.
James will be meeting us at Breezewood and Dave will be meeting us there Saturday morning.
I haven't heard whether Chris (KEDVESH) is registered or not.

!@#$%^&*(!*@&#)
Gosh darn stupid Fix Or Repair Daily
If it ain't one thing its another.
Started hearing a grinding noise when the brakes were applied!
I've just spent a very frustrating weekend working on the brakes and only got the rears done so far.
At least I fixed the grinding - Right rear outboard pad was completely gone, inboard pad had 1/4 left. Wound up replacing both rear rotors, right side caliper and of course new pads. Left rear pads still had 50% left.
Also flushed the brake fluid in the rear with fresh "gold" fluid.
Why don't car manufacturers recommend flushing and replacing brake fluid at any interval at all? Car is a 2001 - so the fluid is about 5 years old. It wasn't as bad as my old vette, but it was pretty yecchy.
Now I got to fiure out how to get enough time between now and Friday to put new pads and rotors on the front [b-(] [b-(] [b-(]

Brake fluid and P/S fluid both should be flushed every year but I don't know one manufacturer that recommends it.
Sorry to hear about the problems you had James. Just finish those fronts and Saturday morning it will have been worth it. [:D]

I'm trying to not get down about it.
Recent other issues and the cost to refurbish the back brakes will not allow me to get the seat moved in time for the event. Just means seating position will not be optimal.
Hey - If I don't get the fronts done is there anyway we might be able to do them at the track, either Friday late or lunchtime on Sat? I think we start too early to try and do them Sat morning.
I think the stock pads will hold up for 1 or 2 sessions (about 40% pad)

I don't see why not as long as you have all the parts.
I've only done Ford brakes once and can't remember whether they have C-clips like the C4s or not.

I am so ready for Beaver Run this weekend! Busy week at work. The 'ole C5 is ready to go. I'm having a few "goodies" installed the following week, which I'll get a chance to run at Summit Point during the NASA event on 24 & 25 September in HPDE 2!

[B-)] Glad to hear you signed up for the NASA event Mike.
Even though I've still got a number of things to do on the vette and the tow vehicle, I'm counting the hours. [:D]
I need this weekend BAD! [:))]

Mike - I'm looking forward to getting you or Ralph as my instructor this weekend! Is there a way to ensure that happens with NASA?!? [:D]
I didn't see Rick listed as going to this event. Who else is coming out from the club? You're not kidding regarding how fast you drive that '86! Simply amazing.
I hope to significantly reduce my lap time soon - give the Porsche guys something to think about. (haha).

Ralph and I aren't instructing at BeaveRun this weekend. We never got an answer from the Oh/In director if we could just instruct Sat and Sun so we just signed up to drive.
If you know a particular instructor is going to be at an event you can normally put a comment on your registration or send an email to Chief of Registration: Sean Thompson registration@nasaracing.net or Laura or Chris Cobetto.

I haven't heard from Rick whether he is going or not. He mentioned it when we were at VIR but nothing since.

Seat time, seat time, seat time. Don't worry your times will come down soon enough. (thats when you start going through tires, brakes and rotors) Keep doing what you are doing (driving smooth) The smoother you are now the faster you will be later.
Last I heard the people going are you and Janet, Ralph, Dave Rankin, James Anderson and myself.
The guys and gals from the OH/IN region are really great also and I have always had good instructors there. A good number of them drive Porsches ( a few Corvettes ).
See you Friday morning [:D]

My instructor last year was a Porsche driver.
He was surprised at how deep I could push the Corvette in one of the corners "Wow - didn't know these cars could do that, but lets not do that again"
Even with the no horsepower rustang I hope to cure a few of my problems from last year. My biggest problem was not using enough of the track.

Well I found out what my SES light was for, cylinder 6 is mis-firing.
With 107K on the original parts I'm going to pull the plug and see if the brand ne platinum plug is bad, if not I'll replace the coil pack and the wires. That should fix it.
I saw in another thread Mike and Ralph ran a session on Monday - did you guys play nice????

We played nice and followed the rules. [:D] Of course it was a HPDE4 and TT so the rules were open passing anywhere with a point by recommended but not required. [:D] [B-)]
We had a BLAST! I chased Ralph for 3 or 4 laps and then he chased me and so on. It was definitely the way to wake up (first sesssion of the day) and it made the trip fun home a treat. (Not tired and able to rethink the session)
I hope the SES is just a plug. It was great having you there James and look forward to seeing you at Summit when you can.
